Summary: The market penetration of circular economy business models in most manufacturing sectors is limited due to companies' shortcomings in executing business model innovation. This paper introduces sectorial business model patterns to help manufacturing companies reduce complexity and uncertainty in implementing circular economy business models. The sectorial patterns are based on multidimensional scaling analysis of over 180 cases of companies, prescribing configurations and architectures to address specific sources of waste. Testing with manufacturing companies has shown the potential of these patterns to visualize viability, feasibility, reduce uncertainties, and complexity in implementing business models for circular economy.

Summary: The growth of environmental burdens and concerns has prompted the adoption of sustainable manufacturing to minimize resource depletion, global warming, and waste disposal. Additive manufacturing (AM) has become popular due to its wide range of applications and benefits. AM is efficient in producing customized and sophisticated products while also improving energy consumption, production costs, and production lead times. Additionally, it is environmentally sustainable, producing less waste and CO2 emissions, and enhancing the circular economy. Further research is needed to understand the long-term effects of AM on the environment.

Summary: There is a strong link between increasing global population, food demand, industrialization, and agricultural waste. Decomposing food by-products release toxic heavy metals, degrading microbes, and enzymes into the environment, contributing to global change and a high carbon economy. The production of biosurfactants from waste material promotes a circular economy and sustainable development.

Summary: Housing practices are driving increased demand for natural resources, leading to severe environmental consequences. Transitioning to a Circular Economy can help alleviate this pressure, but current efforts have mainly focused on technical challenges in buildings, overlooking the housing sector. Research suggests that developing new business models, such as the Product-Service System (PSS), is crucial for embracing circularity in housing. However, the understanding of PSS in the context of circular housing is limited.

Summary: This study analyzes the characteristics of process parameters in three lean gas ethane recovery processes and establishes a prediction and multiobjective optimization model for ethane recovery and system energy consumption. A new method for comparing ethane recovery processes for lean gas is proposed, and the addition of extra coolers improves the ethane recovery. The support vector regression model based on grey wolf optimization demonstrates the highest prediction accuracy, and the multiobjective multiverse optimization algorithm shows the best optimization performance and diversity in the solutions.

Summary: The paper proposes a novel deep learning-based prediction framework, aTCN-LSTM, for accurate cooling load predictions. The framework utilizes a gate-controlled multi-head temporal convolutional network and a sparse probabilistic self-attention mechanism with a bidirectional long short-term memory network to capture both temporal and long-term dependencies in the cooling load sequences. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method, which can serve as an effective guide for HVAC chiller scheduling and demand management initiatives.

Summary: This study uses survey data from the Loess Plateau in China to evaluate the impact of social interaction on the adoption of soil and water conservation (SWC) technology by farmers. The study finds that social interaction increases the likelihood of farmers adopting SWC, and internet use moderates this effect. The positive impact of social interaction on SWC adoption is more pronounced for farmers in larger villages and those who join cooperative societies.
