Summary: A novel nanocomposite adsorbent containing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was synthesized for the efficient removal of Methylene blue (MB) dye from aqueous phase. The characterization of the nanocomposite showed stable formation of AgNPs inside the polymer matrix with an average size of 100 nm. The adsorption capacity was improved and the kinetics and isotherm models indicated favorable adsorption behavior, making the nanocomposite a promising adsorbent for MB dye removal from liquid phase.

Summary: Dye pollution is a serious issue in environmental protection. Bio-based adsorbents have gained attention for wastewater treatment due to their low cost, renewability, and environmentally friendly characteristics. This study fabricated bio-based SA/Lig hydrogel beads and investigated their adsorption properties for methylene blue (MB) removal. The results showed that the inclusion of lignin improved the thermal stability and adsorption performance of the composite material.

Summary: In this study, raw pine tree leaf biomass was used as an adsorbent to remove methylene blue dye from water under varying physicochemical conditions. The adsorbent's characteristics, such as particle size, surface area, presence of functional groups, and morphology, were determined. Adsorption experiments were conducted at different process conditions, including solution pH, dye concentration, adsorbent dosage, and temperature. The Langmuir isotherm model best fit the experimental data, indicating favorable adsorption. The study found that the adsorption capacity of raw pine leaf was comparable to other reported adsorbents. Thermodynamic parameters suggested that the adsorption of methylene blue by pine tree leaf biomass was spontaneous and mainly physical in nature. The results of this study could contribute to the utilization of pine tree leaf waste for water purification.

Summary: In this study, ZSM-5 zeolite was successfully modified for the removal of methylene blue, showing high adsorption capacity under optimized conditions. Factors affecting adsorption efficiency include zeolite dosage, initial dye concentration, temperature, pH, and contact time, and the adsorption process follows Freundlich isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetics. The reusable nature of the adsorbent was demonstrated through multiple cycles without a significant loss in efficiency.

Summary: The inadequate solid-liquid separation and adsorption capacity of current wastewater treatment adsorbents are the main challenges in purifying wastewater containing dyes and heavy metals. In this study, a novel floating separation adsorbent with a polymeric chain structure was fabricated using an electrophilic addition post-grafting strategy. The adsorbent showed satisfactory adsorption for methylene blue and lead ion, as well as efficient flotation. The study provided an efficient strategy for the design and modification of floating separation adsorbents, with positive implications for the purification of dyes and heavy metals wastewater.

Summary: The lignin sample extracted from Eucalyptus grandis sawdust was utilized as an adsorbent for the removal of methylene blue from aqueous solutions. The adsorption data fit well with the Langmuir model and the pseudo-second order model, indicating spontaneous removal of MB by lignin involving physisorption mechanisms. This study highlights the potential use of lignin as an effective adsorbent for cationic dyes, including MB, with possible recycling and reusing cycles without significant loss of properties.

Summary: New beta-lactams were synthesized from indomethacin, a drug used for pain relief, with moderate yields. The reaction proceeds through [2 + 2] cycloaddition of the in situ formed indomethacinyl ketene with aromatic imines, leading to the formation of only trans-beta-lactam isomer. All synthesized compounds were fully characterized by spectral data and elemental analyses.
