Summary: This study reports 3 cases of uterine inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors (IMTs) that appeared similar to leiomyoma in their recurrence. These tumors are rare and often have ALK gene rearrangements, but a low risk of metastasis. ALK immunohistochemistry was positive in all tumors, and all showed ALK rearrangements. Two typical IMTs recurred in the lung and abdomen, while the third patient experienced multiple recurrences. Performing ALK immunohistochemistry on recurrent uterine tumors can help identify patients who may benefit from tyrosine kinase inhibitors.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which adipocytes contribute to the initiation and promotion of uterine leiomyoma tumors. The results showed that adipocytes promote inflammation, fibrosis, and angiogenesis in leiomyoma cells by upregulating associated factors and transferring free fatty acids. Adipocyte-leiomyoma cell interaction increases the phosphorylation of NF-.B and enhances cell proliferation.

Summary: Uterine leiomyoma (UL) and uterine inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) are difficult to differentiate based on morphology alone. Some IMT patients have gene expression profiles similar to UL, suggesting that UL diagnosis may be more appropriate for these IMTs.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the anti-nociceptive effect of thiocyanoacetamide (Thm) compared to other drugs and study its effects on inflammatory mediators in a rat model of acute inflammatory pain. The results showed that Thm significantly modulated pain and had similar effects to other drugs. Furthermore, Thm regulated the release of inflammatory mediators to exert anti-inflammatory effects.

Summary: Inflammatory mediators play a crucial role in inducing pain in endometriosis. Inhibition of the synthesis of these mediators may provide an effective treatment for inflammation-induced pain in endometriosis. Identifying and targeting these mediators could lead to the development of novel treatments for chronic pelvic pain in endometriosis patients.

Summary: Non-inflammatory pain is common in patients with inflammatory arthritis, and one important cause is concomitant fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is common in RA patients, affecting 1 in 5 patients, and is associated with higher disease activity scores. European Alliance of Association for Rheumatology highlights that concomitant fibromyalgia is an important consideration in assessing difficult-to-treat RA.

Summary: Uterine fibroids are the most common tumors in women and have a significant impact on their quality of life. Previous research on the impact of diet on fibroids is limited, but recent studies suggest that vegetable and fruit consumption may have a beneficial effect, while hypovitaminosis D may increase the risk. Further randomized trials are needed to draw firm conclusions.

Summary: Uterine fibroids (UFs) are the most common benign gynecological tumors, with symptoms that can impact quality of life, often requiring pharmacological or surgical treatments. Studies on the potential biological effects of vitamin D supplementation in UFs are increasing, but clinical research only partially supports the beneficial effects of vitamin D in reducing UFs growth and tumor volume.

Summary: This case report describes a rare case of heavily calcified subserous uterine leiomyoma in a postmenopausal woman. Imaging tests showed scattered popcorn appearance in the pelvis, representing severely calcified spots all over the mass. The ultrasound examination was suboptimal due to the heavy homogeneous acoustic shadow caused by the calcification. CT scans were helpful in characterizing the mass and identifying its origin. The patient was treated with a hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy, confirming the diagnosis of severely calcified subserous leiomyomas.

Summary: COVID-19 medicines, like molnupiravir, are emerging for public health and clinical practice, but they vary in efficacy and safety. Pharmacogenomics, the study of genome-by-drug interactions, provides insights on patient-to-patient and population variations in drug efficacy and safety. Tailoring prescriptions based on pharmacogenomics is crucial for achieving personalized COVID-19 preventive and therapeutic interventions. Adequate consideration and implementation of pharmacogenomics can advance the development of COVID-19 medicines for public health benefits.

Summary: Sarcopenia, a disorder characterized by progressive loss of skeletal muscle mass and strength, is associated with multiple complications, decreased physical activity, lower quality of life, and accelerated mortality rate. It is particularly common among cancer patients and is linked with reduced tolerance to cancer therapy, negative outcomes, decreased treatment response, and overall survival rate. This review highlights the dual impact of the co-occurrence of cancer therapy and sarcopenia, as well as the potential complications arising from their coinciding effects on cancer prognosis.
