Summary: This study aimed to examine the association between overall diet quality and overall diet inflammatory potential with the risk of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The results showed that individuals with a more pro-inflammatory diet had higher odds of RA, while those with a higher dietary quality had lower odds of RA. These findings highlight the importance of overall diet quality in modulating the risk of RA.

Summary: This study analyzed the relationship between diet and oral and pharyngeal cancer risk, and estimated the number of preventable cases under different levels of adherence to the dietary guidelines. The findings showed that a higher adherence to the guidelines was associated with a lower risk of oral and pharyngeal cancer, and a significant proportion of cases could be prevented by improving adherence to the guidelines.

Summary: This study evaluated the relationship between the Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII), the Energy-Adjusted DII (E-DII), and the Healthy Eating Index (HEI) to analyze the inflammatory potential of the diet. The results showed significant differences in HEI scores between different quartiles of DII and E-DII. Additionally, the E-DII had a stronger explanatory power for the variation in HEI scores compared to the DII.

Summary: This study validated the correlation between the HER tier-ranked system and the HEI and developed a formula to summarize the overall nutritional quality of tier-ranked foods. The index created demonstrated a moderate-to-strong correlation with HEI and can be used as a single measure for overall nutritional quality.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the healthy eating index-2015 (HEI-2015) and abdominal aortic calcification (AAC) in US adults. The results showed that higher HEI-2015 scores were associated with lower AAC scores and a decreased risk of having AAC. Specifically, a higher intake of fruits, greens, and beans was linked to lower AAC scores. These findings suggest that greater adherence to the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, as assessed by HEI-2015, may be beneficial for preventing vascular calcification and cardiovascular disease among US adults.

Summary: The Healthy Eating Index-Toddlers-2020 is a tool for assessing the alignment of food choices with the new guidance in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025 for toddlers aged 12 through 23 months. It has 13 components reflecting all constituents of dietary intake, except for human milk or infant formula. The tool allows for assessment of diet quality specific to each life stage and supports research on healthy dietary patterns.

Summary: The study showed that Mediterranean, Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH), and Alternate Healthy Eating Index (AHEI) diets were inversely associated with total mortality. Specifically, the Mediterranean and AHEI scores were associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease mortality, while AHEI and Mediterranean scores were associated with a lower risk of cancer mortality.

Summary: This study evaluated estrogen exposure measurement and the mutual effect of age at menarche and age at menopause on the risk of cardiovascular disease events. Reproductive lifespan was the most commonly used method for estrogen exposure measurement. The findings suggest that a shorter reproductive lifespan is associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular disease events, particularly stroke.

Summary: The study found that a shorter reproductive lifespan was associated with a higher risk of incident stroke, with a 7% decrease in stroke risk per 1-year increase in reproductive lifespan. Endogenous oestrogen and total oestrogen exposure did not improve the model of just using reproductive lifespan as a predictor of incident stroke.

Summary: Previous reviews have noted an association between menstrual and reproductive factors with lung cancer risk. This review aimed to explore the relationship between early and late menopause with lung cancer risk. The findings suggest that early menopause is linked to increased lung cancer risk, especially among smokers, while late menopause may also be a risk factor, particularly among non-smokers.

Summary: The study found that regions and countries with high human development index have higher cases and deaths per million population due to COVID-19, due to international connectedness, vulnerability related to older populations, and higher rates of non-communicable diseases. Additionally, the burden of the pandemic varies among high- and middle-income countries due to differences in governance, health system fragmentation, and socio-economic inequities.
