Summary: In this study, it was found that PLEK2 expression was significantly increased in HNSCC tissues, and PLEK2 overexpression was strongly associated with poor overall survival and therapeutic resistance. PLEK2 played an important role in maintaining the malignant behaviors of HNSCC cells, altering cellular metabolism, and enhancing c-Myc signaling in HNSCC.

Summary: This study identified aberrant circRNAs in breast cancer tissues, and found that circRRM2 was upregulated in tumor tissues of breast cancer patients. Functional experiments showed that circRRM2 promoted cell migration and invasion, and acted as an oncogene in breast cancer. Mechanistic studies revealed a positive feedback loop involving circRRM2/IGF2BP1/MYC in breast cancer.

Summary: The study found that TRIM65 is up-regulated in ectopic endometrial tissues and EMS cells, positively correlated with p-ERK1/2, C-myc, MMP-2, and integrin β1 levels. TRIM65 promotes proliferation and invasion of EMS cells through the ERK1/2/C-myc pathway via DUSP6 ubiquitination. The feedback loop between TRIM65 and the ERK1/2/C-myc signaling pathway may be a potential therapeutic target for endometriosis.

Summary: The study found that mTORC1 and its downstream kinase S6K enhance the translation of WTAP, affecting cellular metabolism and cancer progression. WTAP regulates MXD2 to impact the proliferation of mTORC1-activated cancer cells, revealing a mechanism by which mTORC1 stimulates oncogenic signaling through m(6)A RNA modification.

Summary: The study identified that FOXD1 is upregulated in oral squamous cell carcinoma, and higher expression is associated with poorer prognosis. Knocking down FOXD1 inhibits EMT and cell stemness, while overexpression promotes these processes. This suggests FOXD1 may be a potential marker for diagnosis and treatment of OSCC.

Summary: Metastasis of breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer-related death globally. Recent research indicates that circRNAs are associated with tumorigenesis and metastasis in breast cancer. However, the biological mechanism of circRNAs in liver metastatic breast cancer is still unclear. In this study, we identified circEZH2 through microarray analysis and confirmed its existence and expression in liver metastases of breast cancer. We demonstrated that circEZH2 is upregulated in liver metastases and predicts poor prognosis in breast cancer patients. Functionally, circEZH2 promotes the vitality and invasion of breast cancer cells, and its knockdown has the opposite effects. Furthermore, circEZH2 overexpression promotes tumorigenesis and liver metastasis in vivo. Mechanistically, circEZH2 acts as a sponge for miR-217-5p, leading to upregulation of KLF5, which activates FUS transcription and facilitates the back-splicing program of circEZH2. Additionally, KLF5 transcriptionally upregulates CXCR4, thereby accelerating epithelial-mesenchymal transition in breast cancer. In conclusion, we have identified a novel feedback loop involving FUS/circEZH2/KLF5/CXCR4, and circEZH2 may serve as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for breast cancer patients.

Summary: The prevalence and risk factors of intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS) in the anterior circulation (AC) and posterior circulation (PC) have been scarcely studied in the general population. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and risk factors of ICAS in AC and PC in a representative population in China. The findings showed that the prevalence of ICAS in AC was higher than that in PC, and individuals with ICAS in PC were older than those with ICAS in AC. The study also found that modifiable vascular risk factors had similar effects on the risk of ICAS in PC and AC lesions.

Summary: This study conducted a 4-year monitoring on PRRSV samples from a pig farm in China and discovered that NADC30-like PRRSVs have replaced HP-PRRSVs as dominant strains. The high mutation rate of NADC30-like PRRSVs contributes to their low genomic similarity. Recombination events between NADC30-like and QYYZ-like PRRSVs have resulted in complex recombination patterns.

Summary: It was discovered that Cu nanoparticles supported on graphitic carbon nitride (Cu-CN) with the appropriate size exhibited a high acetate faradaic efficiency of 62.8% and a partial current density of 188 mA cm(-2) in the electrochemical reduction of CO to acetic acid. Experimental and theoretical studies revealed that the Cu/C3N4 interface and metallic Cu surface synergistically promoted the conversion of CO to acetic acid. The continuous production of acetic acid in a porous solid electrolyte reactor further demonstrated the potential of Cu-CN catalyst in industrial applications.

Summary: Electrochemical CO2 conversion to methane, utilizing copper-based single atom catalysts, is a fascinating method to store renewable electric energy and utilize emitted CO2. Introducing boron atoms into the first coordination layer of Cu-N-4 motif enhances the binding of CO* and CHO* intermediates, leading to efficient methane production. Co-doping strategy to fabricate B-doped Cu-N-x structure demonstrates superior performance in methane production compared to Cu-N-4 motifs.

Summary: Storing renewable electricity from intermittent energy sources by converting waste CO2 into versatile chemicals is a promising solution for a sustainable energy economy. However, the production of multi-carbon products, particularly acetate, faces challenges due to the high energy barrier and low selectivity in C-C coupling. This article summarizes the two major routes for CO2-to-acetate conversion: direct route via CO2 electroreduction reactions (CO2RR) and indirect route via CO reduction reaction (CORR). The mechanisms and catalysts for acetate production through these routes are discussed, along with the correlation between theoretical calculations and experimental results. The challenges and opportunities in current established processes are also addressed, aiming to provide practical design guidelines for industrial CO2-to-acetate production.
