Summary: Maternal mortality rates in the US have been rising steadily, with cardiovascular mortality being the leading cause of death among pregnant and postpartum women. Maternal stroke contributes significantly to cardiovascular mortality, with rates of stroke among pregnant women increasing in recent years. Factors such as advancing maternal age, the increasing prevalence of traditional cardiovascular risk factors, and other risk factors like hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, migraine, and infections, may be contributing to the rising rates of maternal stroke.

Summary: The ongoing conflict in Sudan has created a humanitarian crisis that greatly endangers the health and well-being of the country's children. This paper examines necessary policy interventions to protect child mental health services in these challenging circumstances. Essential strategies include improving healthcare accessibility, promoting education, enhancing living conditions, providing information on nutritious food, strengthening health systems, cooperating with international aid organizations, and partnering with local NGOs and humanitarian organizations. These comprehensive measures aim to mitigate the detrimental impacts of the conflict on Sudan's vulnerable children.

Summary: There are significant management gaps between clinical guidelines and practice in patients with NAFLD and NASH, and there is no single global guiding strategy for their management. An international conference convened experts in gastroenterology, hepatology, endocrinology, and primary care providers to discuss promising approaches for clinical practice and prepare a comprehensive, unified strategy for the care of NAFLD/NASH patients. Participants also identified specific high-yield targets for clinical research and called for a unified, international public health response to NAFLD and NASH.

Summary: The pandemic caused a regressive effect on the global economy, leading to a 'de-globalized' process that has negatively impacted industries reliant on tourism, urban passenger transport services, and civil aviation. Urgent measures are needed to support vulnerable industries that are not resilient to the pandemic in order to aid economic recovery. The issue of falsifying Covid-19 diagnostic testing certification poses a significant problem in terms of ethics and economics, especially with the start of vaccination programs against Covid-19. This paper argues that collective efforts from everyone could lead to a new normal world that is immune to viruses and unethical behaviors.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the intention to receive the monkeypox vaccine among the Ghanaian population and identified low levels of willingness to accept the vaccine. Non-healthcare workers had lower vaccine acceptance compared to healthcare workers. The determinants of vaccine acceptance included male gender, urban residence, refusal of the COVID-19 vaccine, confidence in vaccination, and collective responsibility. Tailoring efforts to promote monkeypox vaccination, especially among non-healthcare workers, is necessary by increasing their confidence in vaccine effectiveness and safety and promoting the importance of self-vaccination to protect others.

Summary: The wider availability of genomic sequencing in cancer care allows for personalized medicine based on genetic characteristics. Genomic testing may yield various results beyond therapy-focused answers, such as germline mutations and variants of uncertain significance. Consent practices for genomic sequencing in mainstream cancer care should focus on preparing patients for unsolicited outcomes and may not require opt-out options when the chance of such findings is low. International guidelines for mainstreaming informed consent for genomic sequencing are necessary.

Summary: The UK's 'cost of living crisis' has pushed millions into poverty, surpassing the impact of the global pandemic. This crisis is seen as a 'crisis of inequality', with health equity and social justice at stake. A 'social lens' is proposed for understanding the underlying causes of challenges like COLC, emphasizing the need for organized action both inside and outside of health systems to bring about necessary changes.

Summary: This study compared the use of eleven potential sources of sexuality and relationship education (SRE) across nine content areas among autistic and neurotypical adults in the United States. Findings showed differences in source use, particularly in consulting same-aged peers and romantic partners. High internet use was consistent across all groups, indicating a need for improving access to SRE based on existing trends.

Summary: This study found that serum 2-OG levels in cholangiocarcinoma patients are associated with the effectiveness of chemotherapy. Patients with progressive disease showed significantly higher levels of serum 2-OG compared to stable disease and partial response patients. The study also revealed that overexpression of ASPH mimics the effects of 2-OG, and knockdown of ASPH improves chemotherapy. Targeting ASPH enhances the effects of chemotherapy by modulating ATM and ATR, two key regulators of DDRs.
