Two-dimensional layered materials that possess high edge sites density have emerged as an efficient hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalyst, yet remain an extraordinary challenge. Here, we firstly report the synthesis of porous Cu2MoS4 nanosheets with edge-oriented geometry on cerium-centered metal organic framework (Ce-MOF) through a simple hydrothermal reaction. The vertical growth feature of Cu2MoS4 nanosheets efficiently exposed the active edges sites and promoted the HER catalytic performance. The Ce-MOF/Cu2MoS4 composite exhibited superior HER activity when compared with bulk Cu2MoS4 and the mixture of Cu2MoS4 and Ce-MOF, including the lower overpotential (0.36 V) at the current density of 10 mA cm(-2) and a smaller Tafel slope of 70 mV dec(-1).
