Summary: This study investigated specific domains of diabetes distress and associated factors among adolescents with type 1 diabetes in China, finding that adolescents experienced the highest levels of distress in regimen-related and physician-related domains. Older age, female gender, more diabetes problem-solving, and higher perceived stress were associated with higher regimen-related distress.

Summary: The development of habit and automaticity for goal-directed health behaviors can improve daily health behavior engagement. Higher perceived automaticity for diabetes self-management was associated with better self-management, fewer self-regulation failures in glucose checking, and lower average daily blood glucose levels in adolescents with Type 1 diabetes. Further research is needed to explore the benefits and mechanisms of automaticity for diabetes self-management.

Summary: Type 1 diabetes is a chronic disease caused by autoimmune destruction of pancreatic beta cells, and individuals with this disease rely on insulin for survival. Despite advancements, the burden of this disease remains high. Research shows that blocking the immune attack on beta cells holds promise in preserving endogenous insulin production.

Summary: This study examined the mediating role of self-efficacy in the relationship between resilience and self-management behaviors in patients newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. It also explored the moderating role of diabetes distress on the relationship between self-efficacy and self-management behaviors. The findings revealed that self-efficacy fully mediated the association between resilience and self-management behaviors, with diabetes distress moderating this relationship.

Summary: This study revealed that parental depressive and anxiety symptoms were not predictive of adolescent health outcomes 1 year later. The division of responsibility and treatment behaviors did not mediate the relationship between parental emotional distress and HbA(1c) after 1 year. Future research could explore whether these associations exist in the case of mood/anxiety disorders or severe diabetes-specific distress, or if adolescents are resilient in the face of parental distress.

Summary: This study investigated the self-care behavior, depression, and self-efficacy among elderly Chinese type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. The results showed that only 22.5% of patients reported good self-care behavior, and depression partly mediated the association between self-efficacy and self-care behavior. Self-efficacy was negatively associated with depression and depression was negatively associated with self-care behavior. Therefore, interventions focusing on self-efficacy may improve diabetes self-care behavior among elderly T2DM patients.

Summary: This cohort study examined the trends and patterns of psychotropic medication dispensation among children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in Sweden from 2006 to 2019. The study found an increasing trend in psychotropic medication dispensation, which was consistently higher than those without T1D. These findings highlight the importance of further investigations into the benefits and risks of psychotropic medications in this population, as well as the integration of pediatric diabetes care and mental health care.

Summary: Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease driven by T cells, and immunotherapies using monoclonal antibodies (mAb) can selectively reestablish beta cell-specific self-tolerance. mAb have varying efficacy in modulating autoimmunity and can alter the function of immune effector cells.

Summary: This study examines the serial multiple mediation effect of social support and collective empowerment in online health communities on the relationship between diabetes-related burden and self-efficacy among mothers of children with type 1 diabetes. The findings suggest that online social support alone has a limited role in chronic disease management self-efficacy, and collective empowerment should be a strategic component in interventions using online health communities. This study provides valuable insights into the functional mechanism of online health communities for type 1 diabetes.

Summary: This study investigated the level of mindful eating and its associated factors among Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients at a primary care clinic near Kuala Lumpur. The results showed that older respondents and those with elevated fasting blood sugar levels had a higher level of mindful eating. Therefore, healthcare providers should focus on promoting mindful eating, especially among younger patients, and recommend blood glucose monitoring to enhance awareness of the importance of healthy eating habits.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between perceived stress, quality of life (QoL), general self-efficacy, and social support among women with previous gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). The findings suggest that perceived stress negatively impacts QoL, but this effect can be mediated by better social support or general self-efficacy. Healthcare providers should focus on enhancing self-efficacy and social support to improve QoL and reduce the negative impact of perceived stress on women with previous GDM.

Summary: Parent-child relationship quality plays a significant role in impacting diabetes self-management among adolescents with type 1 diabetes, mediating the associations between perceived stress and collaboration with parents, diabetes care activities, and diabetes communication. It suggests that family-based interventions and clinical practice should consider the quality of parent-child relationship as an important element to improve diabetes self-management in this population.

Summary: One in five rural Chinese postpartum women with a history of GDM were found to have increased blood pressure. Biological and sociocultural factors were associated with increased postpartum blood pressure; women with lower general self-efficacy were more likely to have increased blood pressure. Disseminating knowledge about the high risk of developing increased blood pressure among women with prior GDM in rural China is indicated.
