Summary: Developing novel donor-acceptor conjugated polymers with desirable electrochromic properties was investigated in this study. By using electron-deficient units along with an electron-rich block, new donor-acceptor (D-A) type electrochromic polymers were successfully created. The electrochemical and spectroelectrochemistry properties of these polymers were systematically studied, and the results showed excellent electrochromic performance with reversible colors-to-high transmissive states, short switching times, and long-term stability.

Summary: The study found that both PTbTTVT and PTbTTVT-F exhibited good thermoelectric performance with the best power factor (PF) exceeding 35 μW m(-1) K-2. Despite PTbTTVT-F having worse hole mobility than PTbTTVT, it could achieve similar or even superior PF with suitable dopants. This suggests that polymers with less ordered stacking may be more tolerant to dopant disruption, and utilizing amorphous materials with high mobility could be a useful strategy for developing high-performance organic thermoelectric materials (OTEs).

Summary: This work presents bifunctional electrodes based on copolymer poly(thieno [3,2-b] thiophene-co-3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (P(TT-co-EDOT)), which exhibit favorable supercapacitive and electrochromic properties. The copolymer films possess good flexibility, conductivity, and mechanical stability due to the synergistic effect of PTT and PEDOT. Additionally, the morphology and electrical performance of the electrodes can be easily modulated by depositing thieno [3,2-b] thiophene (TT) and 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) with different ratios.

Summary: This study presents a method for detecting toxic agricultural pollutants, such as paraquat derivatives, using pyranine-grafted AAO (P-AAO) membranes. The P-AAO membranes exhibit high sensibility and immediacy in sensing paraquat derivatives through pi-pi electron stacking interactions, Coulombic attractions, and charge-transfer interactions. The changes in UV-vis spectra and impedance in Nyquist plots are observed during the detection process, with a limit of detection (LoD) of 0.9 mu M. This work demonstrates the potential of P-AAO membranes as an excellent choice for detecting pollutants in the environment and industry.

Summary: Three C-70 fullerene derivatives were synthesized and compared with a synthesized C70-IPH. Theoretical and experimental methods were used to analyze the energy levels, opto-electrical properties, and conductivity of these fullerene derivatives. The results showed that these derivatives exhibited better electrical properties than PC70BM, and the modifications with indene and pyrrolidine groups had a positive impact on stability and electrical performance. Moreover, molecular rearrangement improved the conductivity of the layers.

Summary: This paper describes the synthesis, photophysical properties, and electrochemical characteristics of three thieno[3,4b]thiophene-based quinoidal oligomers with rigid planar backbones. The oligomers exhibited narrow absorption bands and significantly red-shifted absorption bands when the thieno[3,4b]thiophene units were extended, resulting in wide transparent windows. The compound O4TTO showed strong absorption in the near-infrared region, making it a potential candidate for future NIR photodetectors, filters, and bioimaging technologies.

Summary: Driven by the success of quinoidal units for high-performance polymer semiconductors, a new quinoidal building block terminated by indandione is reported. Two CPs, P2TbTI-DPP and P2TbTI-TIID, are synthesized through Stille polycondensation by introducing Br atoms into the terminal benzene rings of indandione. The strong electron-withdrawing ability of indandione-terminated quinoidal unit results in low-lying LUMO energy levels of approximately -3.90 eV for P2TbTI-DPP and P2TbTI-TIID. Organic thin-film transistors based on these polymers exhibit n-type transport behavior, with weak dependence on annealing temperature due to the near-amorphous nature of the polymer thin-films.

Summary: This study proposes a method of soft templating using self-assembly of conducting monomers in organic solvents to form porous nanotubular structures. Results show that NaphDOT is capable of forming vertically aligned nanotubes, and the size of micelles in the polymerization solution correlates with the inner diameter of the nanotubes formed.

Summary: Carbazole-based monomers are electrodeposited in dichloromethane with different water content and pH, controlling the surface micro- and nanostructures. The presence of water leads to more porous depositions through micellar soft template formation, while water acidity affects the structure and morphology of the monomers. Wetting properties can be tuned through deprotonation or fluorinated postgrafting, resulting in superhydrophobic and oleophobic surfaces.

Summary: In this study, a bioinspired approach was used to conduct soft-template electropolymerization of NaphDOT in dichloromethane with different water content and supporting electrolytes. The role of electrolytes in the formation of reverse micelles was investigated, and their effects on the resulting porous nanostructures were studied. The findings demonstrate that electrolytes not only play a fundamental role in the formation of reverse micelles and porous nanostructures, but also significantly impact the deposition of oligomers on the soft template.

Summary: In this study, various original benzotrithiophene-based monomers were synthesized and investigated for their ability to form nanoporous structures through soft-template electropolymerization in organic solvents, with a focus on the influence of water. It was found that nanoporous structures were especially observed in solvent saturated with water, and the substituent had a significant influence on the size of the porous structures. The highest hydrophobic properties were achieved with perfluorooctyl chains, leading to the formation of a large number of extremely small nanoporous structures. Furthermore, the surfaces exhibited strong water adhesion comparable to rose petals or gecko feet, suggesting potential applications in water harvesting systems.
