Summary: This study proposed a practical method based on UPLC-QTOF-MS combined with GNPS and multivariate statistical analysis to identify the chemical characteristics and discriminate Ophiopogonis Radix (MD) with different levels of sulfur fumigation (SF). The results showed significant chemical differences in the chemical composition of MD with different degrees of SF. Additionally, 14 and 16 chemical markers were identified in MD with high and low concentration sulfur fumigation, respectively, compared to MD without sulfur fumigation. Overall, these findings are valuable for quality control and pharmacological research.

Summary: Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Fuzi) is a controversial traditional Chinese medicine that can be used to treat various diseases. Quality control and assessment of Fuzi are challenging due to its high toxicological risks, and this study developed a comprehensive analysis technique using UPLC-QTOF/MS and HPLC-MS/MS to analyze the chemical composition and toxicity changes after processing. The decrease in toxicity of processed Fuzi is closely related to the changes in its chemical composition.

Summary: This study comprehensively investigated the metabolite variability of black soybeans from different geographical origins in China. The results showed that black soybeans from Gansu had higher amounts of procyanidins, epicatechin, malonylated isoflavones, and beta-pinene. Guangxi black soybeans had higher amounts of linoleic acid and its oxidation products, while Xinjiang and Yunnan black soybeans contained higher levels of delphinidin-derived anthocyanins, gamma-glutamyl peptides, and aromatic hydrocarbons. The study also identified characteristic metabolites in black soybeans from other geographical origins.
