To explore the reasonability of the decomposition of China's national energy intensity target, we tested the convergence of energy intensity across 30 Chinese provinces, including stochastic convergence, beta-convergence, and o-convergence. Based on panel data from 30 Chinese provinces across three Five-Year Plan periods, the results confirmed the existence of stochastic convergence and beta-convergence, but did not prove the existence of o-convergence in China's energy intensity. In addition, by comparing the convergence speed over the three Five-Year Plan periods, the results showed that China's energy intensity targets for the provinces slowed beta-convergence in energy intensity during the 11th and 12th Five-Year Plan periods, highlighting the need to optimize the decomposition of China's national energy intensity target. Finally, issues related to the decomposition of China's national energy intensity target were discussed and policy suggestions were proposed to optimize it from the perspective of promoting the convergence of energy intensity across Chinese provinces. How do new entrants' pre-entry technological backgrounds impact their cross-industry innovation performances? A retrospective study of the mobile phone vendors

Gupeng Zhang, Xiao Wang, Hongbo Duan, Leven J. Zheng

Summary: The study investigated the impact of new entrants' technological backgrounds on their cross-industry innovation performance, finding that accumulated technology (T1) has a positive role, while technology difference (TD) has a curvilinear impact on innovation performance after entry. Additionally, technology accumulation in the targeted industry after entry (T2) is positively moderated by TD, while the impact of T1 on cross-industry innovation performance is negatively moderated by TD.

Summary: Venture capital is crucial for financing renewable energy projects, with investments made in rounds where capital availability decreases and co-investment rates increase in higher rounds. Analyzing VC firms' direct ties and the small-world nature of the global VC industry network can help determine which projects receive funding and enhance access to information.

More Prosocial, More Ephemeral? Exploring the Formation of a Social Entrepreneur's Exit Intention via Life Satisfaction

Jianing Dong, Xiao Wang, Xuanwei Cao, David Higgins

Summary: This study found that prosocial motivation among social entrepreneurs decreases their financial satisfaction and increases their exit intentions. However, health satisfaction does not mediate this relationship, and the negative impact of prosocial motivation on financial satisfaction is stronger for males compared to females.

A tripartite evolutionary game for the regional green logistics: the roles of government subsidy and platform's cost-sharing

Guangsheng Zhang, Xiao Wang, Yanling Wang, Junqian Xu

Summary: This study explores the dynamic process of tripartite participation in the selection of regional green logistics strategy and reveals the evolutionary game relationship among government, platform, and logistics enterprises. The findings suggest that stable equilibrium strategies exist among the three parties regarding regional green logistics and are influenced by various factors. This research provides a theoretical basis for local governments, platforms, and logistics enterprises to determine justifiable subsidy intensity and reasonable cost-sharing proportions.

Summary: This paper explores contract selection and design optimization in the context of cost-sharing to improve operational efficiency of logistics service supply chains. Through the development of a logistics service demand function model and a cost-sharing differential game model, the study compares the results of three different game theories and finds that both cost-sharing contracts and cooperation can effectively enhance revenue for both parties involved.

Study on Evolutionary Game of Rural E-Commerce Entrepreneurship Ecosystem with Governmental Participation

Yanling Wang, Junqian Xu, Guangsheng Zhang, Xiao Wang

Summary: This paper establishes a tripartite evolutionary game model of a rural e-commerce entrepreneurial ecosystem and analyzes the evolutionary stability of each participant's strategic choice. The results show that subsidies for e-commerce platforms are more conducive to positive evolution, and government behavior shifts over time. The initial willingness of each subject has a significant influence on the evolution of behavior strategy. Countermeasures and suggestions are proposed to optimize the game relationship in the rural e-commerce entrepreneurial ecosystem. The research is enlightening to academic research and corporate practice.

Legitimate violation: how companies covertly neutralize the independent director system in China

Qirui Zhang, Xiaotao Yao, Xiao Wang, Tianyu Xiang

Summary: This study proposed and examined a strategic response to coercive institutional pressure, covert neutralization, which involves organizations neutralizing pressure by manipulating factors within their discretion while conforming to the pressure. The extent of covert neutralization depends on organizational decision-makers' willingness and ability to take countermeasures. Findings showed that Chinese listed companies adjusted their board structures in response to the coercive introduction of the independent director system, while conforming to the system in order to neutralize constraints on controlling shareholders' board control.

Comparison of ethane recovery processes for lean gas based on a coupled model

Xing Liu, Qiuchen Wang, Yunhao Wen, Long Li, Xinfang Zhang, Yi Wang

Summary: This study analyzes the characteristics of process parameters in three lean gas ethane recovery processes and establishes a prediction and multiobjective optimization model for ethane recovery and system energy consumption. A new method for comparing ethane recovery processes for lean gas is proposed, and the addition of extra coolers improves the ethane recovery. The support vector regression model based on grey wolf optimization demonstrates the highest prediction accuracy, and the multiobjective multiverse optimization algorithm shows the best optimization performance and diversity in the solutions.

A novel deep-learning framework for short-term prediction of cooling load in public buildings

Cairong Song, Haidong Yang, Xian-Bing Meng, Pan Yang, Jianyang Cai, Hao Bao, Kangkang Xu

Summary: The paper proposes a novel deep learning-based prediction framework, aTCN-LSTM, for accurate cooling load predictions. The framework utilizes a gate-controlled multi-head temporal convolutional network and a sparse probabilistic self-attention mechanism with a bidirectional long short-term memory network to capture both temporal and long-term dependencies in the cooling load sequences. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method, which can serve as an effective guide for HVAC chiller scheduling and demand management initiatives.

The impact of social interaction and information acquisition on the adoption of soil and water conservation technology by farmers: Evidence from the Loess Plateau, China

Zhe Chen, Xiaojing Li, Xianli Xia, Jizhou Zhang

Summary: This study uses survey data from the Loess Plateau in China to evaluate the impact of social interaction on the adoption of soil and water conservation (SWC) technology by farmers. The study finds that social interaction increases the likelihood of farmers adopting SWC, and internet use moderates this effect. The positive impact of social interaction on SWC adoption is more pronounced for farmers in larger villages and those who join cooperative societies.
