Summary: CREG1 stimulates thermogenic fat formation and reduces diet-induced obesity. The study found that under conditions that attenuate thermogenic fat formation, administration of recombinant CREG1 protein increased UCP1 expression and inhibited fat hypertrophy, leading to reduced obesity. Additionally, UCP1 plays an indispensable role in the inhibitory effect of CREG1 on diet-induced obesity.

Summary: Heart failure is a global pandemic with ineffective current therapies, especially in patients with cardio-renal syndrome. This study investigated the effectiveness of sGC stimulator for treating heart failure with cardio-renal syndrome using a rat model. Results showed that sGC stimulator increased the survival rate of rats with heart failure and improved cGMP excretion. This suggests that sGC stimulators could be a valuable class of drugs for treating heart failure with cardio-renal syndrome, but further studies are needed.

Summary: The study revealed that a high-fat diet can enhance hepatic ceramide deposition by affecting selected proteins from sphingomyelin and salvage pathways. The changes in insulin signaling pathway, including inhibition of Akt phosphorylation and stimulation of PTEN and mTOR phosphorylation, worsened in a time-dependent manner, possibly due to excessive accumulation of sphingosine and sphinganine rather than ceramide.

Summary: This study found that different rice genotypes show lipid remodeling under phosphorus deficiency, and specific galactolipid species correlate with phosphorus use efficiency in rice genotypes under P deficiency. The research reveals the importance of specific galactolipid species in rice adaptation to phosphorus-deficient soils.

Summary: This study evaluated the influence of dietary lysophospholipids combined with 1% fish oil reduction on the growth and hepatic lipid metabolism of largemouth bass. The results showed that adding 0.1% lysophospholipids to the diet improved digestive enzyme activity, growth performance, and liver enzyme activity in largemouth bass.

Summary: Reduced glucose uptake and utilization has been linked to obesity and its complications. This study found that cannabinoid-stimulated glucose uptake increased antioxidative activities, modulated cholinergic and purinergic dysfunctions, and improved glucose-lipid homeostasis in adipose tissues.

Summary: This study found that sleeve gastrectomy (SG) can downregulate the deubiquitinase ubiquitin-specific peptidase 20 (USP20), thereby improving lipid metabolism abnormalities. Further investigation revealed that USP20 targets and stabilizes heat-shock protein family A member 2 (HSPA2) through the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway, promoting lipid accumulation. This suggests that the USP20-HSPA2 axis could be a noninvasive therapeutic target for future research.

Summary: This research explores the influence of myo-inositol on the hypertonic stress adaptation of Nile tilapia by increasing lipid utilization and improving osmotic regulation ability. It was found that myo-inositol supplementation improved growth performance, promoted protein deposition, reduced fat accumulation, and alleviated liver lipid accumulation. Additionally, it reduced serum lipids and upregulated the expression of ion transporter-related genes. The findings suggest that dietary supplementation with myo-inositol can regulate lipid metabolism and improve the physiological response of Nile tilapia to hypertonic stress.

Summary: The study revealed that dietary supplementation with amaranth significantly reduced triglycerides, total cholesterol, and phospholipids levels in the liver, as well as downregulated the expression of lipogenesis-related genes. Amaranth supplementation also reversed the reduction in gut microbiota diversity and richness induced by a high-fat diet.

Summary: This study explored the active ingredients and molecular mechanism of Musa basjoo pseudostem juice (MBSJ) against diabetes. The results showed that MBSJ exhibited good anti-diabetic activity, and the small-polar parts of MBSJ were rich in anti-diabetic active ingredients. Furthermore, the anti-diabetic effect of MBSJ may be the result of multiple components, multiple targets, and multiple pathways.

Summary: AIFM2 is selectively induced in glycolytic muscles during exercise, and overexpression of AIFM2 increases glucose utilization through elevated NAD(+)-NADH ratio. Depletion of Aifm2 in muscles decreases exercise capacity and glucose utilization, while introduction of NDE1 ameliorates these impairments.
