Summary: MiR-375 expression is downregulated in gliomas, and it suppresses glioma proliferation, migration, and invasion by inhibiting the CTGF-EGFR signaling pathway. MiR-375-containing exosomes were found in human blood samples from glioma patients, with levels correlating with disease progression. Exosomal miR-375 secretion impacts the activity of the CTGF-EGFR pathway, and once secreted, exosomal miR-375 is not taken back up by glioma cells.

Summary: MITF has been reported to play a role in the progression of melanoma and other cancer types, but its biological role in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) was largely unknown. This study revealed that MITF contributes to cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and tumor growth in ccRCC through activation of the RhoA/YAP signaling pathways. These findings suggest that MITF could be a potential therapeutic target for ccRCC treatment.

Summary: The study indicated that miR-575 is significantly up-regulated in glioma tissues, with patients in the high expression group having significantly lower survival rates than those in the low expression group. Overexpression of miR-575 promoted proliferation, migration, and invasion of glioma cells. These findings suggest that miR-575 may serve as a new biomarker for the prognosis of glioma.

Summary: This study investigated the role and mechanism of LINC01578 in glioma. The results showed that LINC01578 was highly expressed in glioma tissues and cells. Overexpression of LINC01578 promoted the proliferation, invasion, and migration abilities of glioma cells, while inhibiting apoptosis and inducing epithelial-mesenchymal transition. In contrast, inhibition of LINC01578 weakened the survival of glioma cells and increased apoptosis. Therefore, LINC01578 plays an important role in the development of glioma.

Summary: This study reveals that the expression of interferon inducible guanylate binding protein 3 (GBP3) and stimulator of interferon genes (STING) is upregulated by Temozolomide (TMZ) treatment, contributing to TMZ resistance in glioblastoma. GBP3 physically interacts with STING and stabilizes its protein levels, leading to the expression of genes associated with resistance. Targeting GBP3 could enhance the sensitivity of glioblastoma to TMZ treatment. Clinically, high expression of GBP3 is correlated with poor outcomes in glioblastoma patients.

Summary: PRMT6, a type I arginine methyltransferase, asymmetrically di-methylates the arginine residues of both histones and non-histones. Increasing evidence indicates that PRMT6 plays a tumor mediator involved in human malignancies. Investigation of PRMT6 expression in glioma tissues demonstrated that PRMT6 is overexpressed, and elevated expression of PRMT6 is negatively correlated with poor prognosis in glioma/GBM patients. Silencing PRMT6 inhibited GBM cell proliferation and induced cell cycle arrest at the G0/G1 phase, while overexpressing PRMT6 had opposite results.

Summary: This study reveals the genetic and immune heterogeneity between primary lung cancers and brain metastases by analyzing 26 tumor samples from 10 patients. In addition to inheriting characteristics from the primary lung cancers, brain metastases also exhibit unique genetic and molecular features, indicating the complex evolution and heterogeneity of tumors at a single-patient level. The findings provide novel insights for formulating individualized treatment strategies for brain metastases.

Summary: LHPP, a new-found tumor suppressor, is found to be abnormally decreased or absent in glioblastoma, leading to poor median survival in patients. Overexpression of LHPP inhibits the growth of glioma cells by interfering with the stability of PKM2 protein and inducing ubiquitin-mediated degradation. This study suggests that LHPP hinders glycolysis and respiration in gliomas, ultimately suppressing tumor growth.
