Summary: An HAase inhibitor-incorporated hyaluronic acid hydrogel was designed to reduce toxicity risk and slow biodegradation rate in subcutaneous tissue. The hydrogel, formulated with Quercetin as an HAase inhibitor and quetiapine as a model drug, exhibited sustained drug release and improved pharmacokinetic parameters in rats following subcutaneous injection. All results supported the designed hydrogel as a biocompatible formulation for sustained drug delivery.

Summary: The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of recanalizing hyaluronic acid-occluded retinal central artery by intra-arterially infusing hyaluronidase in patients with monocular blindness. The results indicated that this approach was effective and safe for recovering visual acuity in such patients.

Summary: The study showed false-negative results in both in vitro and in vivo aspiration tests using 30G needles containing filler, while needles containing saline or air produced positive results. Pre-filling the needle lumen with saline instead of filler can reduce the incidence of false-negative results.

Summary: Hyaluronic acid filler injection is commonly used for facial shaping and filling. However, occasional incidents, such as alopecia at the injected site, have been reported. This case study reports the successful recovery of skin necrosis and alopecia in the left temple region through treatment with hyaluronidase and minoxidil.

Summary: This study investigates the biological impact of hyaluronic acid (HA) in reshaping ear cartilage by injecting HA dermal filler in rabbit ears. The results show that HA can stimulate cartilage regeneration by increasing extracellular matrix synthesis and chondrogenesis, particularly in direct contact with the ear cartilage.

Summary: A halotolerant bacterium isolated from dental caries was found to produce the enzyme hyaluronidase, which showed high activity and stability at pH 7.0 and 40 degrees C, as well as in 2M NaCl solution. The enzyme exhibited wide substrate specificity with hyaluronic acid as the best substrate.

Summary: The study aimed to determine the optimal pressure during filler injections and evaluate its ability to overcome arterial blood pressure and prevent filler material reflux. Results showed that using different needle diameters resulted in varying injection forces, with high ejection pressures achieved under high injection forces. It is important to approach the target area gently during filler injections to avoid penetration of blood vessels and intravascular injection.

Summary: The use of injectable fillers for facial aesthetics has increased significantly in the past few decades, but the rare risk of ocular and orbital ischemia causing blindness should not be underestimated. Understanding the parameters, risks, immediate interventions, and education for injectors can help reduce the possibility of this life-altering consequence.
