Summary: The study found that nurse practitioner students developed their clinical competence the most in direct clinical practice. However, there were uncertainties in terms of the development of clinical competence in areas such as consultation, coaching, guidance, and collaboration. Previous work experience in primary healthcare was a statistically significant but minor predictor of the development of clinical competence.

Summary: Many nurse practitioners may come across patients with both HIV infection and opioid use disorder in their practice, but most advanced practice registered nursing students do not have the opportunity to experience such medically complex patients during their clinical experiences. To address this issue, we have developed a series of simulated patient scenarios involving both HIV infection and opioid use disorder to help APRN students become familiar with the challenges of managing these comorbid conditions.

Summary: The past decade has seen a significant increase in online courses, which was further accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This qualitative study examined students' self-directed learning strategies and satisfaction in online courses through interviews with 15 graduate students. The results highlighted the importance of students' motivation and task strategies, their use of cognitive and metacognitive strategies, and the impact of time and resource management on their satisfaction. The study has implications for online instructors and instructional designers.

Summary: This study examines how a teacher autonomously uses web-based learning to meet the learning needs of his students. The study found that despite lacking training in web use, the instructor was able to supplement his classroom teaching through online platforms, catering to the diverse learning needs of his students. Additionally, the study reveals that the instructor's self-directed path towards web-based teaching was complex and challenging, and it interacted with the extent to which students' learning needs were fulfilled. However, the instructor's relentless self-agency in enhancing students' web-based learning experiences helped mitigate the complexity and challenges of the process.

Summary: Being able to self-regulate one's learning is crucial for academic success but often difficult for students. This study investigates the use of a mobile application with gamification elements to support first-year university students' self-regulated learning processes. The results show that the use of the app leads to an increase in autonomous motivation and metacognitive self-regulation skills. However, most students only use the app for a limited number of self-study sessions. The study also reveals that students are less inclined to use the app if they feel they do not need support for their self-regulated learning processes.

Summary: This study examined middle school students' perceptions of self-directed and collaborative learning with and without technology in ICT-supported classrooms. The results showed that students perceived themselves as actively engaging in self-directed and collaborative learning. Instructional quality and gender were found to have an impact on students' self-directed learning, but this difference was not significant when using technology. The findings also revealed lower engagement in collaborative activities with peers when learning with technology. Additional support for collaborative learning and professional development for teachers may be beneficial in incorporating technology into the classroom.
