Summary: Recent studies have shown the potential applications of bile acid-Eudragit NM30D(R) capsules in drug encapsulation and viable-cell encapsulation. These capsules can improve cell viability, insulin levels, inflammatory profile, and bioenergetics, and the stability of the capsules is associated with cellular biological activities. Changes in ratios of bile acids to Eudragit NM30D(R) can alter the microenvironment of the capsules and subsequent cellular activities.

Summary: NHE and NKA are crucial regulators of ion transport in fish, and in this study 12 NHE genes and 12 NKA genes were identified in R. canadum. These genes were found to be distributed in gill, brain, and heart tissues, and showed specific expression patterns and responses to salinity changes.

Summary: Leishmaniasis is a significant issue in Egypt, with dogs acting as the main reservoir host for this disease. Severe manifestations of cutaneous leishmaniasis were observed in humans, with phylogenetic analysis showing different strains of the parasite. Gene expression analysis in both blood and tissue samples confirmed the importance of certain genes in the disease's progression.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of UV-C radiation on the physiology and gene expression of Plutella xylostella, a vegetable pest. The results showed that UV-C exposure suppressed the immunity of the pest and enhanced the virulence of entomopathogenic fungi. Additionally, UV irradiation was found to be an effective pest management tool that could reduce pesticide application and be economically beneficial and environmentally safe.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the stress responses of Mentha piperita under different lead concentrations. The results showed that the relative abundance of menthofuran synthase gene was downregulated, while the relative abundance of menthol reductase and pule gone reductase genes were upregulated under lead stress. Moreover, the menthol content also increased with intensifying lead stress. Moderate stress decreased chlorophyll and carotenoid content, and increased hydrogen peroxide content. Overall, these findings revealed the adaptation mechanisms of Mentha piperita under lead stress.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized silver nanoparticles using Gardenia thailandica leaf extract for the first time, and demonstrated their potential antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The active constituents in the leaf extract were identified and their antioxidant activity was evaluated. The synthesized silver nanoparticles were characterized using various analytical techniques. Further experiments revealed that the silver nanoparticles induced morphological changes and altered gene expression in S. aureus bacteria, and showed wound healing and anti-inflammatory effects in vivo.

Summary: This study reports the first infection of Mesanophrys sp. in mud crabs and investigates its impact on the crabs' survival, tissue distribution, and immune response. The infected group showed significantly lower survival rates and higher Mesanophrys sp. numbers in various tissues. Histopathological observation revealed tissue-specific pathogen infection. In addition, the infected group exhibited higher activity of antioxidant enzymes, indicating an immune defense reaction induced by Mesanophrys sp. infection. These findings are important for understanding the pathogenicity of Mesanophrys sp. and developing control measures for S. Paramamosain.

Summary: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major primary liver malignancy with limited early diagnosis and poor therapeutic outcomes. Melatonin, a promising antitumor agent, was found to inhibit the proliferation of doxorubicin-resistant HCC cells and downregulate drug resistance genes. The expression of apoptosis-related and anti-inflammatory genes was also elevated, indicating the potential of melatonin as an adjuvant therapy for human-resistant HCC.
