Summary: Opportunistic routing (OR) improves energy efficiency and network lifetime in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) by selecting optimal relay nodes. Existing energy-efficient OR protocols follow the steps of selecting a forwarder set and prioritizing relay nodes using current network parameters. Introducing a prediction model in OR enhances network lifetime and throughput. A proposed energy-efficient fuzzy logic prediction-based opportunistic routing protocol (EEFLPOR) uses a fuzzy-based prediction method with current and future node parameters to predict better relay nodes and outperforms benchmark OR protocols.

Summary: This paper introduces three multi-objective electric vehicle routing problems that consider different charging strategies and electric vehicle charger types while optimizing five conflicting objectives. A new hierarchical approach consisting of Hybrid Ant Colony Optimization (HACO) and Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm (ABCA) is developed to solve these problems. The proposed approach is examined on test-based instances and achieves the best new results in most cases.

Summary: In this research, a neuro-fuzzy approach to energy-efficient routing (NFEER) for IoT-enabled WSNs is proposed. The NFEER takes into account multiple parameters such as the distance between cluster head and sink, cluster size, and residual energy of cluster head to find the most efficient path across the network, mitigating the hotspot issue. Extensive simulations demonstrate that the NFEER extends the stability period by 27.98%, 13.97%, and 10.91% compared to existing protocols, resulting in enhanced stability duration, residual energy, network lifetime, and throughput.

Summary: This study proposes a method to improve the performance of the Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm by introducing an existence of solutions outside the constrained region (ESO), an elite-centered search equation, and an adaptive bee colony scaling. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms other ABC variants and some non-ABC meta-heuristic algorithms in terms of solution quality and optimization performance.

Summary: This article proposes an energy-efficient protocol for IoT that uses WSN, called EFUCSS, which extends the network lifespan and reduces energy consumption through clustering, scheduling, and data transmission. The protocol forms unequal clusters based on Fuzzy C-Means to balance energy usage and uses a fuzzy logic system for cluster head selection. Extensive simulation experiments show that EFUCSS improves remaining energy and network lifespan significantly compared to other protocols.
