Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis confirmed the correlation between lower beta-carotene levels and malaria. The results showed a significant reduction in beta-carotene levels among malaria patients compared to uninfected individuals. Further exploration is needed to understand the intricate relationship between malaria and beta-carotene.

Summary: Psoriasis is a chronic immune-dysregulated inflammatory disease and low vitamin D levels are associated with it. This study reviewed the relationship between vitamin D, bone metabolism parameters, and psoriasis, as well as evaluated the effectiveness of oral vitamin D supplementation. The results showed that psoriasis patients had lower levels of 25(OH)D and parathormone compared to controls. However, vitamin D supplementation did not seem to improve clinical manifestations in psoriasis patients.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of polymorphisms in the vitamin D receptor gene on the response to vitamin D supplementation through a systematic review and meta-analysis. The results suggest that the TaqI and FokI polymorphisms may play a role in modulating the response to vitamin D supplementation.

Summary: Human-driven environmental changes are impacting wildlife, but the extent of their impact varies among different species. Telomere length has been proposed as a potential biomarker for animal health and fitness, but its use in ecological studies is limited. A systematic review and meta-analysis found a small negative association between anthropogenic disturbances and telomere length in wild animals. However, further research is needed to fully understand the causal relationship and implications of telomere length in anthropogenically disturbed scenarios.

Summary: This study evaluated the pathophysiological role of neopterin in patients with rheumatic diseases through systematic review and meta-analysis. The results showed that neopterin concentrations were significantly higher in patients with RD compared to healthy controls. However, there were no significant associations found between neopterin concentrations and factors such as age and gender ratio, but associations were observed with geographical area and type of RD.

Summary: This umbrella meta-analysis summarized existing systematic reviews and meta-analyses of clinical trials on vitamin D supplementation. The findings revealed that vitamin D supplementation significantly reduced serum levels of CRP, TNF-alpha, and MDA, but did not show significant changes in IL-6, TAC, and GSH. Vitamin D could be considered as an adjuvant therapy for relieving inflammation and oxidative stress.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis investigated the effects of vitamin D supplementation on children with allergic diseases. The results showed that overall, vitamin D supplementation did not significantly reduce the risk of asthma exacerbations in children. However, it may reduce the risk in children with low baseline serum vitamin D levels. Additionally, vitamin D supplementation was found to reduce the severity of atopic dermatitis and symptoms of allergic rhinitis in children.

Summary: The maternal mortality ratio is an important indicator of healthcare system quality, and despite progress in reducing maternal mortality in Iran, efforts are still needed to eliminate preventable maternal deaths. The study evaluated 80 cases of maternal deaths in 20 hospitals, finding direct and indirect causes to be significant factors in maternal mortality, with an increase noticed even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, implementing a comprehensive approach for high-risk pregnancies is critical.

Summary: In contrast to structuralists, who aimed for a fixed framework of meanings, post-structuralists believed that knowledge is not constrained by fixed structures and meanings, but rather fluctuates and evolves through a continuous process of semantic dialectics. In the field of geography, meanings are produced in the communication between spaces, and there are no independent meanings and identities for geographical space and place alone. The authors of this article argue that post-structuralism is a non-scientific and non-epistemic viewpoint, and it has conceptual and epistemic contradictions.
