Summary: This study investigated the association between microscopic polyangiitis and the single nucleotide polymorphism rs807185 in autophagy-associated gene 4A (ATG4A) in the Chinese population. Using multiplex polymerase chain reaction and high-throughput sequencing, it was found that the control group had a higher frequency of the A allele of rs807185 compared to the microscopic polyangiitis group, suggesting that the A allele of rs807185 may have a protective effect against microscopic polyangiitis in the Chinese population. However, the molecular mechanisms remain unclear.

Summary: This study found that the GTF2I rs117026326 and rs73366469 SNPs were strongly associated with SSc in the Chinese Han population, while NFKB1 rs1599961 showed a suggestive association with SSc. However, TYK2 rs2304256 was not significantly associated with SSc in this particular population.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between dietary iron intake, SNP of rs10830963 in MTNR1B gene, and glucose metabolism. The results showed that dietary iron intake was associated with elevated fasting glucose and higher HbA1c among G allele carriers of rs10830963, while no significant results were observed among G allele non-carriers.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between IL23R variants and COPD susceptibility in the Chinese population. The results showed a significant association between rs7517847 and increased risk of COPD. Haplotype analysis indicated that the AAC and GGA haplotypes formed by rs2201841, rs12743974, and rs10889677 were associated with reduced risk of COPD.

Summary: The study found a lack of association between MTHFR (rs1801133) and the risk of HTN in an indigenous South African population, but identified an interaction between rs1801133, age, and gender.

Summary: Evidence suggests a strong genetic basis for type 2 diabetes (T2D), with activated STAT4 playing an inflammatory role as an important mediator of diabetes-related inflammation. A study in the Chinese Han population found an association between STAT4 genetic polymorphisms and T2D susceptibility, particularly highlighting the significance of rs3821236 in overall and subgroup T2D risk analyses. The findings may contribute new insights for personalized diagnosis/protection against T2D.

Summary: In this study, independent amino acid polymorphisms in HLA molecules associated with Han Chinese patients with AOSD were identified by fine mapping the MHC locus. Specific positions in HLA-DQ alpha 1 and HLA-DR beta 1 were determined as major determinants for AOSD, along with associations with three main HLA class II alleles. This study reveals the role of functional variations in the class II HLA region in the pathogenesis of AOSD.
