Summary: Nanoporous Au was characterized in three dimensions through serial block face-scanning electron microscopy (SBF-SEM). The corresponding sections were digitized and used to evaluate the mechanical properties. The study found that the sample was homogeneous and isotropic, and the estimated effective Young's modulus matched well with literature values.

Summary: This study investigates the protective potential of Bifidobacterium longum cell wall lipoproteins (Lpps) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and finds that they can modulate the gut microbiota and alleviate arthritis symptoms. The dosage of Lpps is critical for preventing arthritis progression and appropriately modulating the microbiome. The results also suggest that Lpps may trigger the immune system.

Summary: Research shows that Hsa_circ_0044235 is downregulated in rheumatoid arthritis patients and regulates NLRP3-mediated pyroptosis through the miR-135b-5p-SIRT1 axis to affect the development of RA.

Summary: The study evaluated the impact of NovaMin and stannous fluoride (SnF2) on dentine tubule occlusion using serial block-face SEM (SBF-SEM). Results showed that NovaMin achieved better occlusion than SnF2, leading to increased mineral density and dentine mineralization. SBF-SEM demonstrates potential for high-resolution analysis of bone-like materials for research and development of new biomaterials.

Summary: This study identified the role of TRPM7 channel-mediated chondrocyte ferroptosis in the destruction of articular cartilage associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The findings suggest that TRPM7-mediated chondrocyte ferroptosis is a promising target for the prevention and treatment of RA through the PKC alpha-NOX4 axis.

Summary: This study analyzed the specific mechanism of NLRP3 in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It was found that NLRP3 levels were increased in synovial tissues and fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) of RA patients. Silencing NLRP3 suppressed FLS proliferation and inflammatory factor levels. Additionally, it was discovered that ALKBH5 binds with NLRP3 and its silencing also suppressed FLS proliferation and inflammatory factor levels, while NLRP3 overexpression neutralized the role of ALKBH5 in FLS. Furthermore, m6A modification induced by ALKBH5 suppressed NLRP3 mRNA level through YTHDC2 in RA, and NLRP3 was identified as a key factor in RA progression.

Summary: The circCDKN2B-AS_006/miR-1258/RUNX1 axis plays a crucial role in promoting the tumor-like growth and metastasis of RASFs in rheumatoid arthritis. Inhibition of circCDKN2B-AS_006 expression alleviates arthritis severity and inhibits aggressive behaviors of RASFs in a mouse model. This study highlights the importance of circRNAs in the pathogenesis of RA and provides a potential therapeutic target for its treatment.

Summary: This study evaluated a non-face-to-face-multidisciplinary consultation model in a population with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results showed that there were no significant differences in disease stability between the telemedicine model and the usual face-to-face care or mixed model for RA patients. However, patients in the usual care group and the transition model group had decreased therapeutic adherence and increased self-care ability.

Summary: The study showed that DNB is effective in controlling local disease in active RA joints, with significant improvement in clinical and ultrasound scores at 2 and 8 weeks. Treatment effects were more pronounced in the dominant hand, with maximum improvement observed at 2 weeks in the injected PIPs, particularly in the second PIP. Early intervention led to better outcomes.

Summary: Serial block face scanning electron microscopy (SBF-SEM) is an advanced imaging technique that provides larger x- and y-axis ranges for three-dimensional visualization compared to other volumetric EM techniques. It was developed by Denk and Horstmann in 2004 as a method to resolve the 3D architecture of neuronal networks with nanometer resolution. This article provides an accessible overview of the advantages, challenges, applications, and potential future clinical use of SBF-SEM, as well as alternative AI-based segmentation methods.

Summary: The CCL2/CCR2 axis plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis, triggering various immunological events such as inflammation and being involved in multiple processes of RA development. Targeting the CCL2/CCR2 axis offers potential opportunities for immunotherapy in RA treatment.

Summary: 3D electron microscopy offers nanoscale resolution for analyzing morphological parameters of dendritic spines, with features such as spine volume and PSD only observable with this technique. SBEM provides easier and more reproducible 3D EM data, while also reducing the number of animals needed for experimentation.

Summary: This study reveals that the expression level of LncRNA OSER1-AS1 is significantly decreased in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients and may serve as a potential diagnostic marker. The overexpression of OSER1-AS1 inhibits the inflammatory response in RA through its interaction with miR-1298-5p and E2F1.
