Summary: This study aims to evaluate the cost and quantity of anti-diabetic drugs needed by patients with or without diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) in Beijing between 2016 and 2018. The study found that DPN patients used more medications to treat complications and comorbidities compared to non-DPN patients, and the annual drug treatment costs were higher in DPN patients.

Summary: This case presents a specific adverse drug reaction of corticosteroids that causes diabetes mellitus and subsequently leads to peripheral neuropathy in an acute onset. Mecobalamin and Acupuncture were employed and steroids were discontinued, 8 months later he recovered part of his strength and sensation.

Summary: The pathogenesis of diabetic neuropathy is complex, with low-grade intraneural inflammation being a common feature. In addition to iron deficiency, obesity and dyslipidemia may also contribute to neuropathy. Anti-inflammatory compounds with different modes of action could potentially be used for treatment or prevention of diabetic neuropathy if further substantiated by human tissue data and intervention studies.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of Baimai (BM) ointment on diabetes peripheral neuropathy (DPN) and explore its underlying mechanisms. The results showed that BM ointment can relieve pain hypersensitivity and protect against peripheral nerve damage caused by DPN, possibly through the inhibition of neuropeptide and chemokine expression and the regulation of PI3K/AKT and MAPKs signaling pathways.

Summary: Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a complication of metabolic syndrome and diabetes, causing sensory changes such as slow nerve conduction, nerve degeneration, loss of sensation, pain, and gait abnormalities. Nonpharmacologic approaches, including dietary interventions and exercise, show promise in treating DPN. These lifestyle interventions have the potential to provide meaningful relief for patients and identify new therapeutic targets.

Summary: Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is a common complication of diabetes that significantly impacts quality of life and healthcare burden. Current screening methods for early detection of DPN have limitations, highlighting the need for further research and clinical practices to improve accuracy and early detection.

Summary: Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is a chronic metabolic disease that seriously affects patients' quality of life and can lead to amputation and neuropathic pain. Current treatment options only address symptoms and do not reverse nerve damage. Understanding the underlying mechanisms is crucial for prevention and the development of new therapies.

Summary: The goal of this study was to evaluate the burden of endometriosis in the community by comparing healthcare resource utilization, total direct medical costs, infertility, and comorbidity rates of women with and without a diagnosis of endometriosis. The study found that endometriosis was significantly associated with infertility, comorbidities, higher utilization of healthcare services, pain medications, and antidepressants, as well as higher direct medical costs.

Summary: Neuropathic pain is common in diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DN), and it may be caused by pathogenic ion channel gene variants. Variants in ion channel genes were found in DN patients with and without pain, suggesting their role in pain generation.

Summary: The study found that magnolol (MG) can improve neurological dysfunctions in diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) mice, promote neurite outgrowth, protect nerve structure, and regulate inflammation and apoptosis processes through multiple pathways. These results reveal the potential of MG as a treatment for DPN and provide further understanding of its mechanism of action.

Summary: Studies have shown that lipid metabolism and inflammation pathways associated with DPN are regulated at the gene expression level in diabetes animal models. These pathways are also conserved in human DPN, revealing the important pathogenesis of DPN. Omics approaches can help us better understand the association between metabolic changes and morphological and functional abnormalities in DPN.
