Summary: The burgeoning 4th Industrial Revolution brings both threats and benefits to humanity. The new technologies introduced by this revolution have been said to diminish humans' capacities like compassion and cooperation. It also triggers challenges such as security, trust, liability and personal data privacy, and widens social and economic gaps. However, some of these claims have been criticized as biased, overlooking important issues. It is crucial to pay attention to the family unit and its coherence and functioning within this technological era.

Summary: We propose a novel approach for robotic industrial insertion tasks using the Programming by Demonstration technique. Our method allows robots to learn a high-precision task by observing human demonstration once, without requiring any prior knowledge of the object. We introduce an Imitated-to-Finetuned approach that generates imitated approach trajectories by cloning the human hand's movements and then fine-tunes the goal position with a visual servoing approach.

Summary: Torque testing is essential for improving the quality of high-precision reducers in industrial robots. A new torque-measurement system was designed for a vertical measuring instrument, with minimized distance from torque transducers to the robot reducer for a shorter measurement chain. The symmetrical system structure enhances overall rigidity, allowing for easy error compensation, and reasonable compensation models based on a neural network were developed for accurate torque measurement. The precision of the torque detector reached 0.1% over the entire range, enabling accurate measurement of input and output torques of the robot reducer.

Summary: Maintaining the efficiency of solar cell panels by keeping their surface clean is a tedious task. This study proposes a simple and cost-effective method of fabricating a flexible and transparent superhydrophobic film. The film's superhydrophobicity is achieved through a combination of surface roughness and low surface energy. The film demonstrates high mechanical durability and flexibility, making it a potential protective cover for solar cells.

Summary: In this study, a new method for investigating the pressure-specific volume-temperature (P-V-T) behaviors of a thermoplastic in melt state was proposed and tested. The coefficients of the modified two-domain Tait equation of state (EOS) in the melt state were obtained through analyzing the volume variation of molten plastic in the barrel of an injection molding machine (IMM) at different temperatures and pressures and conducting nonlinear regression. The simulation results demonstrated the possibility of using an IMM and a hot runner manifold to study the P-V-T properties of thermoplastics under industrial conditions, providing insights into product defects caused by plastic characteristics and offering P-V-T data for new materials.

Summary: This paper presents a novel method of predicting the angular transmission error (ATE) of a harmonic drive by measuring noncontact tooth profile and considering 3-dimensional tooth engagement. The ATE errors of 9 harmonic drives assembled with 3 flex splines (F/S) and 3 circular splines (C/S) were predicted and the superiority of the proposed method was verified by experimentally measuring their ATE.

Summary: In this study, a new post-processing method was experimentally investigated for improving the surface finish and reducing heat absorption of FDM-3D printed moldcore, aiming to broaden the application scope of FDM. The results showed that chemical treatment with dimethylketone improved surface roughness, while aluminum spray coating reduced heat absorption of ABS filament samples. This low-cost post-processing technique is easily applicable to both lab-scale and manufacturing scales, especially for low-volume production or prototype fabrication.

Summary: The demand for energy-saving, high-efficiency motors is increasing due to the widespread use of electric cars, as well as the emphasis on energy conservation and environmental protection. To address the issues of frictional losses and component failure in electric motor systems, non-contact supporting motors have been developed. This paper proposes a generalized three-phase coil configuration for the radial suspension of a bearingless slice motor, and presents a design problem formulation and a minimal realization method for this configuration. Finite element analysis is conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed coil configuration for bearingless motors with various slot numbers.
