Summary: This study uses an android robot as an intermediary to increase intra-group connectedness through daily conversations, enhancing familiarity and closeness among group members. Experimental results show that this method effectively enhances social connectedness, as well as improving the closeness of the user-robot relation and the performance of robots in conducting conversations with people.

Summary: Despite the growing interest in construction robotics, there has been insufficient attention paid to Human-Robot Interaction (HRI). This paper proposes a multidimensional taxonomy to characterize HRI applications in the construction industry, based on existing taxonomies and empirical studies in various industries. The proposed taxonomy can be used for systematic reviews and meta-analyses of HRI applications in construction, benefiting the design of collaborative tasks performed by human-robot teams.

Summary: In this study, the Expectable Motion Unit (EMU) is proposed to prevent sudden, uncontrolled motions in human-robot interaction (HRI). By establishing a mapping between robot velocity, robot-human distance, and the relative frequency of involuntary motions (IM), the robot's speed during task execution is limited in real-time. The EMU is integrated into a holistic safety framework that considers both physical and psychological safety knowledge.

Summary: The study suggests that social robots can serve as personal trainers for physical and cognitive training of older adults. Age, attitude, and education were found to influence the acceptance of the robotic system, highlighting the importance of customizing the system to meet different user needs and providing meaningful feedback. The system was proven to be robust and reliable, showing clear potential as a personal trainer and motivational tool for older adults.

Summary: Realizing successful and collaborative interactions between humans and robots remains a major challenge. The study investigated the impact of frustration on human-robot interaction in a close cooperative work situation. Results showed clear differences in perceived frustration in two condition groups, with participants exhibiting different behavioral interactions. Frustration was found to have a negative influence on factors such as dominance and sense of control in the interaction.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of the Retail Service Robot (RSR) on Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), focusing on RSR's usefulness, social capability, and appearance. The findings reveal that RSR's facilitators positively influence attitudes towards HRI, which in turn predict better service quality and greater acceptance of RSRs. Anxiety towards robots was found to moderate the relationship between RSR's facilitators and attitudes towards HRI. The study provides theoretical and practical implications for the adoption of RSRs and effective HRI.

Summary: Recent research in human-robot interaction has shown that aerial robots can physically interact with humans, providing an intuitive way to give commands and collaborate on tasks. In this study, a system involving a human lifting a rigid object with a quadcopter is explored. Custom sensor systems are designed to accurately estimate human commands and provide state feedback. Successful outdoor experiments demonstrate the feasibility and potential applications of this modality.

Summary: Robots, like human co-workers, can lose human trust by making mistakes. This study examines the impact of different trust repair strategies (apologies, denials, explanations, and promises) on overall trustworthiness and its sub-dimensions (ability, benevolence, and integrity) after repeated trust violations. The results show that none of the repair strategies fully repaired trustworthiness and two of its sub-dimensions (ability and integrity). Additionally, apologies, explanations, and promises appeared to have similar effects, while denials were consistently the least effective at repairing trustworthiness and its sub-dimensions.

Summary: This paper theoretically addresses the significance of unintentional and inconsistent interactional elements in human-robot interactions, highlighting the potential consequences on human-robot relational patterns and human-human relations. It argues that the absence of precise interactional elements can reshape interactional patterns and lead to the generation of new types of interactional settings.

Summary: This letter introduces a user-adaptive variable damping controller that improves the overall performance of coupled human-robot systems during physical interaction. Bayesian optimization is used to evaluate and optimize the controller performance, considering the uncertainty of human behaviors and noisy observations. Experiments with a robotic arm manipulator show that the adaptive control strategy significantly reduces energy expenditure and improves stability, agility, and user effort.

Summary: Research shows that the successful deployment of mobile robots in public spaces is closely related to the presence and choice of motion legibility cues. Following a user study, it was found that Projected Arrows as a motion legibility cue were more socially acceptable in most experimental conditions.
