Summary: This study identifies and prioritizes crucial inspection items for housing transfers through a literature review and expert interviews. The results include the delineation of eight aspects, a comprehensive list of 38 items, a short list of the top 15 items for quick transfer, and a priority sequence for inspection items. It effectively resolves the confusion faced by practitioners and provides clarity on the relative significance of inspection items.

Summary: The concept of commercial determinants of health (CDoH) has gained significant attention, but lacks a clear definition and metrics. By tracing its origins and proposing an expanded framework, there is potential to use CDoH for global and national health improvement, as well as reducing health inequities.

Summary: This article identifies key research gaps and opportunities for scientists in various disciplines to contribute to the growing number of climate lawsuits worldwide. It focuses on research that can inform legal decisions regarding responsibility for greenhouse gas emissions and climate damages. The article highlights the need for further research in attribution science and cross-disciplinary research to address the causes of climate inaction and allocate responsibility for emissions reductions. The goal is to encourage researchers to engage in climate litigation and discussions on legal responsibility for climate change and emphasize the importance of timely and actionable scientific research in this domain.

Summary: Ecuador's high biodiversity and ecosystem services are threatened by human disturbance and climate change. There are more studies on the impact of human disturbance than on climate change effects. Birds are the most studied taxon in Ecuador, while other plant and animal taxa have fewer available international scientific publications. More research is needed on the impacts of human disturbance and climate change, particularly in coastal, Andean, and Amazon regions. Documentation, standardization, sharing, and publishing of data are crucial for supporting the monitoring and maintenance of biodiversity and ecosystem services.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact worldwide, leading to policy adjustments in most countries. Despite a decrease in case fatality rate and an increase in vaccination numbers, the continuing burden of COVID-19 needs attention due to the large global population. The number of cases remains at a certain level globally, with an ongoing increase in cases in China. Shortages of medical resources, antipyretics, and home nursing facilities also need to be addressed. Reforming the public health system is crucial, including establishing a comprehensive surveillance system to determine pathogen proportions and guard against mixed infections of respiratory diseases. A comprehensive response mechanism, including preventive measures and medical treatments, should be created to monitor the epidemic and address the long-term health burden of SARS-CoV-2.

Summary: Endophytes have shown to enhance the physiological status of plants under metallic stress, promote the growth of roots and shoots, and increase metal uptake in the biomass of hyperaccumulating plants. Endophyte-assisted phytoremediation is a promising technology for remediating polluted or naturally metal-rich soils.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic is starting to impact children, and the vaccines provide protection for both pregnant patients and newborns, while breastfeeding plays a crucial role in passive protective immunity. Long COVID has contributed to a crisis in pediatric mental health, and vaccines offer protection against this long-term complication. Vaccine misinformation not only affects compliance with maternal and pediatric COVID-19 immunization efforts, but also routine childhood vaccinations. As a public health priority, it is important to improve the response to vaccine misinformation and find innovative strategies to enhance vaccine compliance.

Summary: The gut microbiota plays a crucial role in brain function through the gut-brain axis. This review highlights the effects of gut microbiota-derived dietary metabolites on cell-to-cell interactions in the central nervous system, particularly microglia, astrocytes, and neuronal cells, affecting cognitive function, mood, and behavior. The review also discusses the potential of diet-induced microbial metabolite-based therapies as novel approaches to mental health treatment.
