Summary: Corosolic acid (CRA) has shown protective effects against doxorubicin (Dox)-induced cardiotoxicity by promoting transcription factor EB (TFEB) nuclear translocation, reducing apoptosis, and decreasing oxidative stress. CRA activates TFEB in an AMPK alpha 2-dependent manner to protect against Dox cardiotoxicity by restoring autophagic flux and improving mitochondrial structure and function.

Summary: This study evaluated the protective function of Sitagliptin in human renal glomerular endothelial cells under high glucose conditions. The results showed that Sitagliptin reduced oxidative stress, inflammation, and increased permeability in the cells by regulating KLF6. This suggests that Sitagliptin could be an effective strategy for preventing diabetic renal injuries in the future.

Summary: Based on analysis of 918 human biopsies, essential derangement in diabetic nephropathy consists of accumulation of worn-out glomerular basement membrane in the mesangium that may advance to global sclerosis. The most frequent pathway to nephron dropout starts with the penetration of glomerular capillaries into Bowman's capsule (BC), delivering an exudate into BC that spreads around the entire glomerular circumference and via the glomerulotubular junction onto the tubule, resulting in glomerular sclerosis and chronic tubulointerstitial damage.

Summary: Reduced expression of SIK2 contributes to renal tubular injury and fibrosis in diabetic kidney disease (DKD). SIK2 overexpression reduces ER stress-mediated tubular epithelial apoptosis by inhibiting p300's histone acetyltransferase activity. Restoring SIK2 in tubules alleviates tubular and interstitial impairments in DKD mice, suggesting that SIK2 is a potential therapeutic target for DKD.

Summary: The study found that SAB can alleviate kidney histopathological changes, improve function, and reduce cell apoptosis in DN rats at various doses. SAB enhances the activity of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and superoxide dismutase (SOD), while decreasing levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malondialdehyde (MDA).

Summary: In this study, the researchers investigated the functions of lncRNA H19 on glomerular endothelial structural damage in diabetic nephropathy. They found that deficiency of H19 mitigated the microalbumin, creatinine, BUN and histopathological alterations in diabetic rats. H19 deficiency also attenuated the damage of endothelial structure and enhanced the expression of junction proteins, glycolcalyx protein, and endothelial activation markers. The in vitro results showed that H19-siRNA alleviated glycocalyx shedding, tight junctions damage, and endothelial activation in HG-stimulated rGEnCs. H19 deficiency also enhanced the expression of p-Akt and p-eNOS and NO concentration. These results suggest that H19 deficiency could protect the glomerular endothelium in diabetic nephropathy by activating the Akt/eNOS pathway.

Summary: Chronic pain, often accompanied by anxiety disorders, is difficult to treat due to the exacerbating relationship between the two conditions. GIP, previously studied in neurodegenerative diseases, was found to have analgesic and anxiolytic effects in the treatment of chronic inflammatory pain and pain-related anxiety, possibly through attenuation of neuroinflammation and inhibition of excitatory transmission in the ACC. GIPR activation may be a promising target for future therapies.
