Aim: The dietary contents have a very important role in the management of metabolic syndrome along with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Indian diet contains a large amount of carbohydrates that set off unpredictable blood sugar fluctuations and leads to increased risk of diabetic complications. The aim of the present study was to identify the effect of mulberry tea in the reduction of abnormally high postprandial blood glucose (PPG) levels in T2DM patients. Methods: The study design was follow-up T2DM, 20 diabetic patients were given plain tea (control) and 28 diabetic patients were given mulberry tea (test subject) to measure the effect of mulberry tea on fasting blood glucose and PPG levels. Fasting blood glucose samples were collected after a standard breakfast. The PPG levels were recorded after the consumption of 70 ml tea along with 1 teaspoon of sugar after 90 min in all 48 patients. Results: Fasting blood glucose levels in control and test group samples were found to be 178.55 +/- 35.61 and 153.50 +/- 48.10, respectively. After the consumption of plain tea and mulberry tea, the PPG values were recorded as 287.20 +/- 56.37 and 210.21 +/- 58.73, respectively. A highly significant (p < 0.001) change in the PPG level was observed in response to mulberry tea in all the test patients compared with control. Moreover, the effect size was also found to be very large (1.31). Conclusion: Mulberry tea suppresses postprandial rise of blood glucose levels after 90 min of its consumption. Summary: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the causative agent of COVID-19, has become a global concern since March 2020. Initially thought to be limited to the respiratory system, the virus has been found to affect other organs, including the nervous system. Reports indicate that SARS-CoV-2 can penetrate the central nervous system (CNS) and cause neurological symptoms. This comprehensive review examines the entry routes of SARS-CoV-2 into the CNS, the molecular mechanisms involved, clinical symptoms, and associated nervous system diseases.

Summary: Glioblastoma is an aggressive tumor that hinders normal brain function, and the inability of the skull to expand results in increased pressure in the brain. Recent studies have found that SNPs play a significant role in the development and spread of glioblastoma, with many GB-related SNPs being highly abundant in the promoter region, creating genetic vulnerability to glioma.

Summary: CDK9 is a protein involved in controlling the cell cycle and is often deregulated in stress conditions. It is being studied as a druggable target for cancer and other diseases. In this study, structure-based virtual screening was used to discover potential inhibitors of CDK9. Two natural compounds, Glabrene and Guggulsterone, were identified as high affinity and specific CDK9 inhibitors. Molecular dynamic simulations confirmed the stability of the complexes. These findings may contribute to the development of novel CDK9 inhibitors for the treatment of life-threatening diseases, including cancer.

Summary: The number of studies on natural product-based management of dementia has been increasing steadily, with a significant rise in 2020 and 2021. This article analyzed current trends from 2016 to 2021 to assess the potential growth of natural products in dementia treatment. Common targets and pathways included oxidative stress, NF-kappa B pathway, tau aggregation, AChE inhibition, and A-beta aggregation. The analysis of 33 natural compounds identified 125 sustainable resources distributed among various families, orders, and classes. Certain families and orders, such as Berberidaceae, Zingiberaceae, and Lamiales, were identified as important for further research. Natural products like quercetin, curcumin, icariside II, berberine, and resveratrol were found to have diverse applications. The importance of dietary supplements and natural products is supported by clinical studies and patents, which are also discussed. The article concludes with a discussion on the broad scope, future challenges, and opportunities for field researchers.

Summary: This study investigates the prevalence and genetic basis of antibiotic resistance to macrolides, lincosamides, and streptogramins (MLS) in Enterococci and the correlation between MLS resistance and biocide resistance. The results show high resistance rates to MLS antibiotics, with constitutive resistance being the most prevalent phenotype. The erythromycin ribosome methylase (erm) genes, particularly ermB, were the most detected MLS resistance-encoding genes. The study also reveals a significant correlation between MLS resistance and reduced susceptibility to biocides, with efflux genes playing a crucial role in developing cross-resistance to both MLS antibiotics and biocides.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the anticancer potential of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and EGCG-loaded nanoparticles (EGCG NP) in 3D spheroids of prostate cancer cell lines. The results showed that EGCG and EGCG NP significantly reduced the size of spheroids and increased the level of ROS in PCa cells to some extent. In addition, EGCG induced apoptosis in PCa cells, while EGCG NP did not significantly affect the number of apoptotic and live cells.
