Summary: This study found that patients with inflammatory bowel disease have poorer subjective sleep quality compared to controls, with even worse sleep quality in those with active IBD. However, there were no differences within IBD subtypes. These results highlight the importance of considering sleep quality as a relevant comorbidity in IBD.

Summary: The safety and effectiveness of surgical treatment for hemorrhoidal disease in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is currently poorly supported by evidence. However, cautious surgical management of non-responsive CD patients with inactive disease is still recommended, though further studies are needed to assess the potential benefits of non-excisional techniques in this population.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the survival outcomes of IBD-associated and non-IBD-associated CRC. The results showed that IBD-CRC patients had a significantly worse overall survival than those without IBD. This may be attributed to more aggressive histological characteristics and a lower rate of R0 resections at the primary tumor site.

Summary: The objective of this study was to assess the effectiveness of treatment for inflammatory bowel diseases in modulating oxidative stress biomarkers and cytokine levels. A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted, and it was found that antioxidant capacity and lipid peroxidation levels were not significantly modulated, while superoxide dismutase levels showed significant modulation. However, there is still limited research on oxidative stress biomarkers and cytokines in the context of alternative therapies for IBD treatment. The results highlight the potential of antioxidant supplementation in IBD management and emphasize the need for further investigations into its effects on oxidative stress biomarkers and cytokines.

Summary: This meta-analysis aimed to determine the frequency of peripheral blood regulatory T cells (Tregs) in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients. The results showed no significant difference in the frequency of PB Tregs between IBD cases and control subjects. However, the frequency of CD4+CD25+CD127- and CD4+CD25+FoxP3+ Tregs were significantly lower in IBD cases. Additionally, UC cases and active IBD cases showed a significantly lower frequency of Treg cells.

Summary: This study aims to integrate scientific data on the role of the intestinal microbiota in regulating gut serotonin signaling and reuptake and its involvement in the pathogenesis of IBD. It is found that the use of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors as an adjuvant therapy can improve disease activity and extraintestinal manifestations in IBD patients.

Summary: The study assessed the quality of preclinical evidence for MSCs therapy of ALS, determined the effect size of MSCs treatment, and identified clinical parameters associated with differences in MSCs effects. The results showed that MSCs transplantation was beneficial for neurobehavioral improvement in ALS animal models, with animal gender and immunosuppressive drug CSA having a close correlation with disease progression deceleration effect size.

Summary: The study aimed to analyze the clinical features and gait characteristics of PD patients with fatigue and develop a model to identify fatigue in the early stages of PD. The results showed that PD patients with fatigue had more severe impairment of motor symptoms and fatigue became more pronounced as the disease progressed. Combining clinical characteristics and gait cycle parameters can identify PD patients at high risk of fatigue.

Summary: Lentinan effectively inhibits proliferation and promotes apoptosis of human astrocytoma U251 cells. When the concentration exceeds 100 μg/ml, cell activity gradually decreases, with the lowest activity at a concentration of 600 μg/ml. Low concentrations of Lentinan (25, 50, and 100 μg/ml) had no significant effect on apoptosis of human astrocytoma U251 cells. However, Lentinan above 200 μg/ml significantly promoted apoptosis and showed a concentration gradient effect, with the highest apoptosis rate at 600 μg/ml.
