Summary: Adsorption materials based on Aspergillus niger spores were chemically modified with CTAB to enhance the biosorption capacity of chromic acid ions. The secondary amine (-NH-) played a crucial role in the reduction adsorption process, reducing hexavalent chromium by transferring electrons to unoccupied orbit of Cr(VI). The fungal biological adsorbent showed promising potential for repeated adsorption and desorption of hexavalent chromium without significant decrease.

Summary: An alternative methodology based on the combination of microextraction with flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) is reported for the determination of Pd2+ in environmental samples. The method involves the use of CTAB as a surfactant and precipitating agent to form a complex with Pd2+ in the presence of iodide. The results show that this solvent-free microextraction is simple and sensitive for the preconcentration and determination of micrograms per liter of Pd2+ in various environmental samples.

Summary: Synthesis of CeTi2O6 material using template-directed sol-gel method led to the formation of porous structure after removal of CTAB template, resulting in greatly increased surface area and pore volume. Addition of CTAB can enhance the photocatalytic degradation activity of CeTi2O6 towards ofloxacin.

Summary: A micelle aqueous medium was successfully prepared to improve the dispersibility of lignin in solvents and enhance photocatalytic efficiency. The use of a specific photocatalyst facilitated the cleavage of lignin C-O bonds and the formation of phenols and ketones as main products. Mechanism studies indicated that hydrogen derived from photo-driven dissociation of water played a crucial role in improving photocatalytic efficiency.

Summary: The size of silicon carbide particles affects the uniformity and quantity of silicon carbide particles in nickel-silicon carbide composite coatings, with 40 nm particles being more effective than 500 nm particles. In terms of surfactants, anionic surfactant SDS produced better dispersion of 40 nm silicon carbide particles compared to cationic surfactant CTAB.

Summary: A simple and low-cost method for the extraction and preconcentration of ARS-III and MR dyes was developed using efficient cloud point extraction with mixed micelles of TX-114 and CTAB. The method showed good recoveries, with thermodynamic quantifies indicating spontaneity and endothermicity. Temperature, surfactant concentration, and dye concentration all affected the thermodynamic quantifies, with recoveries ranging from 90.02-101.03% for ARS-III and 86.07-99.46% for MR dyes.

Summary: A new NO2 nanohybrid gas sensor was constructed using 3D molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO), assisted by hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), for sensitive room-temperature detection of NO2. The sensor exhibited a high response rate, remarkable selectivity, low detection limit, and long-term stability.

Summary: This research evaluated the application of palygorskite to reduce glyphosate contamination in synthetic effluent. The study showed that organo-palygorskite, treated with wet granulometric classification and wet magnetic separation, had an increased cation exchange capacity and surface area. The 1.0% organo-palygorskite adsorbed about 86% of glyphosate. Thus, organo-palygorskite can be a potential adsorbent for remediating effluents containing the toxic herbicide glyphosate.

Summary: The effect of irradiation on further transformations of potato starch in the starch-CTAB-water system was studied using DSC, revealing structural changes and decreased symmetry in complexes formed using irradiated starch compared to non-irradiated starch. Thermal treatment induced deterioration of the complex structure in irradiated samples, while non-irradiated starch showed no significant modifications. Changes in complex structure were detected in granular starch samples when doses in the range of 2-30 kGy were applied, with 5 kGy causing easily noticeable modifications.
