Summary: An expeditious metal-free synthesis method has been developed for synthesizing diverse 3-ArS/ArSe derivatives with high yields (up to 95%) of 4H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidin-4-one. This operationally simple reaction, conducted under mild conditions, can be scaled up to gram quantities and shows broad functional group tolerance. Preliminary experimental investigations suggest a radical mechanistic pathway for these transformations.

Summary: This paper presents a transition metal-free C(sp(3))-H sulfenylation of arylacetamides using thiophenols as sulfenyl reagents, with only K3PO4 as the required presence. Control experiments confirmed the involvement of a sulfur-centered free radical intermediate in the reactions, and the synthesis of 2-thiomethyl benzoxazoles was achieved through a p-toluenesulfonic acid (p-TSA) promoted annulation of the sulfenylated products.

Summary: An iodine-promoted divergent thiolation of unprotected anilines with thiols has been described in this study. The combinational use of I-2 and DMSO played a crucial role in achieving this transformation without the need for a metal catalyst and strong oxidants, providing well-controlled reaction selectivity. The method offers an efficient protocol for constructing C-S and C-I bonds from C-H bonds under mild reaction conditions.

Summary: A convenient synthetic route to 2-heteroaryl-3-hydroxybenzo[b]thiophene derivatives via K2CO3-promoted multicomponent cyclization has been demonstrated, yielding the products in moderate to good yields. The resultant 3-hydroxybenzo[b]thiophenes have proven to be versatile building blocks in a range of transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions.

Summary: An efficient and environmentally friendly aerobic radical cascade reaction has been developed for the synthesis of a diverse range of 2-thio-substituted quinolines using o-vinylphenylisocyanides and thiols, without the need for additional catalysts or oxidants. Mechanistic investigations revealed that the reaction is initiated by a thiyl radical generated under aerobic conditions, which then undergoes radical annulation with a vinyl substituent.

Summary: A new reaction methodology has been developed for the thio(hetero)arylation of imidazoheterocycles under metal and base-free conditions. This reaction allows for the synthesis of compounds with significant biological properties, by linking imidazopyridines with electron-deficient heteroarenes through a sulfur atom. The reaction conditions are well tolerated by a wide range of 2-chloroheteroarenes and imidazoheterocycles.

A series of aliphatic and aromatic N-sulfenyl sulfoximines were synthesized with good to excellent yields without the use of transition metals. Summary: TFA/DMSO combination efficiently promotes the cross-dehydrogenative coupling of various hetaryl thiols with indole derivatives, leading to good-to-excellent yields of 3-(hetarylsulfenyl)indoles under mild heating conditions. Two-fold hetarylsulfenylation of indoles at 2- and 3-positions can be conveniently achieved by adjusting the molar ratio of the starting materials.

Summary: The study developed an iodine-mediated cascade strategy to synthesize amino pyrazole thioether derivatives without the use of metals or solvents. The approach showed high selectivity in providing the compounds, avoiding the formation of undesired byproducts, and demonstrated the reactivity of nine sulfenylation sources. Overall, the iodine-mediated multicomponent reaction was shown to be more economically feasible, efficient, and environmentally friendly.

Summary: An iodine promoted simple and environment friendly protocol has been developed to access imidazo [1,2-a]pyridines from unfunctionalized pyridines and oxime esters, affording moderate to good yields with large functional group tolerance. Extensive investigation revealed that regioselective domino C-3 methyl sulfenylated imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines were also accessible first time from pyridines and oxime esters in DMSO solvent, operating through metal-free generation of iminyl radicals from easily accessible oxime esters to build up the second heterocyclic ring on pyridines.
