Summary: Laparoscopic ureteral reconstruction (LUR) has good medium-term outcomes with high success rates. Different types of LUR show similar success rates, but the refluxing surgical group has higher incidence of VUR. Laparoscopic end-to-end ureteroureterostomy (LEEU) group has shorter operative time and less intraoperative blood loss.

Summary: Ureteral injury is a common complication of colorectal and gynecologic procedures. Delayed diagnosis is common and can lead to complications such as ureterocolic fistula. Here, we report a case of an iatrogenic left ureterocolic fistula in a boy who underwent multiple colonic surgeries complicated by an unnoticied left ureteric injury. Due to recurrent UTIs and decreased left renal function, the patient eventually required open left nephroureterectomy.

Summary: A complex relationship model was designed to predict the association between surgical complications and preoperative risk factors using data from 51,030 surgical inpatients in China. Malnourished status was widely associated with other risk factor clusters and complications, while an ASA score > 3 directly influenced other risk factor clusters and severe complications. Grade III complications were directly dependent on 4/5 risk factor clusters and affected all other grades of complication. Complication occurrence increased the risk of other grades of complication.

Summary: The study analyzed etiology, characteristics, and reconstruction strategies of iatrogenic ureteric injuries in a high-volume center. Urological procedures were the main cause of injuries, and treatment strategies should be tailored based on the location and length of the injury.

Summary: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is a common bariatric procedure with low complication rates. Endoscopic negative pressure therapy has been effective for staple line leaks. A retrospective study on 12 patients found that simultaneous surgery and endoscopy may not result in better outcomes for patients with staple line leaks.

Summary: In this study, all patients who underwent surgical repair of tracheobronchial injury at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Medical University of Vienna between January 1999 and May 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Patient characteristics, surgical variables, postoperative morbidity, and mortality were retrieved and analyzed.

Summary: This report presents a case of iatrogenic aortic dissection post primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), where the dissection was initially missed by conventional contrast images and required gated computerized tomography aortogram for diagnosis confirmation. The patient achieved complete healing of the dissection after 72 hours of strict blood pressure control. This case emphasizes the importance of selecting the correct imaging modality for accurate diagnosis of aortic dissections and highlights the significance of blood pressure control in treating iatrogenic aortic dissections.

Summary: This retrospective study examined the successful application of endoscopic vacuum therapy (EVT) for duodenal leaks. EVT was successfully applied in all interventions and led to definitive closure of the defects in eight out of ten patients.

Summary: Flexible endoscopy plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of postoperative complications after esophageal cancer surgery, offering effective therapy with minimal invasiveness. During the past 20 years, significant advancements have been made in endoscopic treatment techniques for anastomotic bleeding, anastomotic insufficiency, anastomotic stenosis, and delayed gastric emptying.

Summary: This study evaluated the clinical and imaging presentation, management, and outcome of iatrogenic retroperitoneal hematomas (IRPHs) during neurointerventional procedures. The results showed that periprocedural or postprocedural abdominal/flank pain was the common symptom of IRPH. Renal subcapsular hematomas were successfully diagnosed by angiogram and treated with embolization. The study also suggested using full visual fluoroscopic monitoring during femoral catheterization to prevent IRPH.

Summary: Iatrogenic ureteral injuries are a significant complication during pelvic surgery. Abdominal imaging is essential in determining the type of injury and method of reconstruction. Renal autotransplantation should be considered for severe injuries.

Summary: This study found that the total volume of CNS tumors in von Hippel-Lindau disease increases intermittently, with a 50% risk of developing new lesions per year. However, plasma VEGF levels did not correlate significantly with tumor burden levels in this disease. Therefore, other potential biomarkers should be explored to assess tumor burden progression in von Hippel-Lindau disease.

Summary: Infarct volume in acute ischemic stroke is closely related to clinical outcome, and iatrogenic infarcts may not lead to overt clinical deficits. There is a relative lack of data on the clinical impact of periprocedural diffusion-weighted MR imaging lesions, highlighting the need for a better understanding of their clinical significance.
