Summary: In this study, we reported ten cases of transient clitoral preputial edema in female neonates, which was mistaken for clitoromegaly. The study aimed to clarify the clinical course of clitoral preputial edema.

Summary: Although sebocytes from sebaceous glands and preputial glands share common lipid-producing properties, significant differences were found in the expression levels of enzymes involved in the biogenesis of specialized lipid classes. This suggests major developmental, functional, and biosynthetic differences between the two gland types.

Summary: The expression of p62 protein is significantly higher in feline mammary carcinoma compared to non-neoplastic mammary glands, similar to human breast cancer. This study suggests that p62 may have oncogenic potential in feline mammary carcinoma.

Summary: TLRs are important PRRs in innate immunity that are expressed on immune cells and mammary epithelial cells. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between histologic types and grades of neoplasms and TLRs gene expression levels. PCR analysis showed overexpression of TLR 3, 4, and 9 mRNA, with different tumor types and grades demonstrating varying expression levels. However, the correlation between histopathological characteristics and TLRs mRNA expression level was insignificant.

Summary: Pregnancy induces expansion of NKT-like immune cells and upregulation of immune signaling molecules in mammary epithelial cells. Lack of CD1d expression or activated NKT cells may lead to mammary oncogenesis.

Summary: Through studying the differentiation and metabolism of mammary epithelial cells, it was found that mitophagy occurs selectively during the differentiation process. Inhibiting autophagy impairs cell differentiation, while the PRKN protein is necessary for cell differentiation.

Summary: By analyzing the morphology, metabolomics, and transcriptomics of the muskrat scented gland and mouse preputial gland, we found similarities between the two organs at the cellular and molecular levels. This study provides evidence for the homology of these two glands.

Summary: The mammary gland ductal epithelial cells regulate cold-induced adipocyte UCP1 expression and control adipose thermogenesis through the secretion of mammokines. These findings suggest that sympathetic nerve-activated glandular epithelium plays a crucial role in adipocyte UCP1 expression and has implications for energy expenditure and subcutaneous fat loss.

Summary: Embryonic mammary gland development involves multiple steps, including the formation of mammary placodes and mammary buds, as well as the development of ductal trees. Studies have identified factors and pathways that influence these steps, and there is a deeper understanding of the characteristics of mammary stem cells and progenitor cells.

Summary: The mammary gland is a complex organ that can be regulated by nutritional stimuli, affecting glandular function and disease development. Obesity increases the risk of breast cancer, while fasting or calorie restriction may have a negative impact on mammary tumor progression. However, the specific effects of fasting on the mammary microenvironment are still not well understood.
