Summary: Ti-doped porous SiO2 microspheres were synthesized as an effective adsorbent for the removal of cationic dyes from wastewater. The microspheres exhibited excellent performance, including a wide range of applications, fast adsorption rate, high adsorption capacity, excellent selectivity, easy desorption steps, steady performance, and multiple cycles. The unique spherical mesoporous structure and the Si-O-Ti bond ensured the stability of the microspheres during multiple cycles and the desorption process, achieving efficient removal of dyes.

Summary: The scientific community is developing materials called porous organic polymers (POPs) that are custom-built at the molecular level and have low densities, high stability, surface areas, and porosity. This paper focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and performance of three triazine-based POPs (T-POPs) in dye adsorption and catalysis. The T-POPs showed excellent efficiency in removing anionic and cationic dyes from water, as well as high conversions and selectivities in Henry reactions when modified with copper(II).

Summary: Phosphorylated chitosan (P-CS) was successfully synthesized and shown to have good adsorption properties towards anionic dye Acid Red 88, making it a promising adsorbent for water treatment applications. The adsorption mechanism of P-CS/AR 88 system is mainly driven by electrostatic attractions, H-bonding, and n-pi interactions, as revealed by FTIR spectroscopy and DFT calculations.

Summary: Environmental pollution and energy shortage are significant problems for human and social development. The design and preparation of novel porous organic polymers (POP-Ts) have been studied for effective adsorption of organic pollutants in wastewater. Among them, POP-T (1:1.5) showed excellent adsorption performance for rhodamine B (RhB), methylene blue (MB) and diclofenac (DCF), with maximum adsorption capacities of 1414.4 mg/g, 1256.6 mg/g, and 1028.9 mg/g, respectively. The POP-T materials exhibited good stability and retained over 90% adsorption efficiency after four cycles. The superefficient adsorption performance is attributed to the hydrophobicity, large specific surface area (1416 m2/g), and porosity of POP-T (1:1.5) material.

Summary: MgAl2O4/C composite was synthesized using a low-temperature non-hydrolytic sol-gel method with Mg powder, Al wire, and isopropanol as raw materials. The influence of different magnesium sources and heat treatment temperature on the synthesis and adsorption properties of the composite was investigated. The results showed that amorphous MgAl2O4 had better adsorption capacity for Congo red compared to its crystalline counterpart, which could be attributed to the bimetallic alkoxides structure and the Lewis acid-base reaction between the anionic dye and the composite surface.
