Summary: In this study, a highly sensitive and selective ECL aptasensor for Pb2+ detection was constructed based on the dual signal amplification strategy of AIE and RET. The signal-on was activated by AuNCs-modified electrode surface, while the signal-off was induced by RhB quenching the AuNCs signal. Specific binding of Pb2+ to the aptamer resulted in favorable recovery of ECL signal.

Summary: In this paper, copper nanoclusters with a superlattice structure (Cu NCSL) are developed as a luminescence probe for miRNA-221 detection. The tightly aligned superlattice structure effectively reduces disorder and chaos, limiting intramolecular vibrations and improving electron transport efficiency. The luminescence of Cu NCSL is greatly enhanced with increased radiation energy transfer rate. The MBene nanosheets effectively amplify the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) signal of Cu NCSL in the constructed ECL sensor for miRNA-221 detection. The Cu NCSL/MBene-based biosensor shows high selectivity, stability, and low detection limit in clinical cancer detection.

Summary: Gold nanoclusters with versatile optical properties and low cytotoxicity are widely used in biomedical sensing and imaging. Previous studies have focused on acquiring the brightest species of gold nanoclusters, neglecting other types. In this study, a series of gold nanoclusters rich in surface Au(0) were successfully prepared using aged bovine serum albumin (BSA) and pH control during synthesis. It was found that slightly increasing the alkalinity during synthesis generated the darkest gold nanoclusters with strong absorption. The addition of Au3+ quenched the emission of the brightest gold nanoclusters but increased that of the darkest ones. Utilizing this effect, a ratiometric sensor for toxic Au3+ was constructed.

Summary: The weak red emission of copper nanoclusters (Cu NCs) can be significantly increased by the addition of lanthanide Tb3+ through the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) effect. This allows for monitoring spores contamination by detecting 2,6-dipicolinic acid (DPA) levels. By using Tb3+ as a bridge, Cu NCs exhibit AIE enhanced fluorescence and serve as a specific recognizer for DPA, resulting in the development of an efficient fluorescent probe for DPA sensing. This method has a wide detection range for DPA and can be applied to the detection of bacterial spores.

Summary: Mancozeb, a commonly used antifungal for fruit growth, can bind to the waxy components of fruits and has non-internal absorption. This study investigated the interaction between pesticide molecules and the waxy layer on grape surfaces and their impact on pesticide residues. Significant changes in the composition of the grape surface waxy layer were observed after soaking in a mancozeb solution, and molecular docking revealed hydrogen bonds and van der Waals forces between mancozeb and the waxy components. The presence or absence of wax affected the determination of mancozeb residues, with significantly lower deposition in grapes after dewaxing.

Summary: The effect and mechanism of ultrasound on the biodegradation of profenofos by Lactiplantibacillus plantarum were investigated in this study. Ultrasound applied during the prelogarithmic phase of microbial growth significantly enhanced the biodegradation of profenofos. The key ultrasonic parameters were optimized using the response surface methodology, and the Holden model was used to describe the growth of L. plantarum and the biodegradation of profenofos. Under optimal ultrasonic conditions, the specific growth rate of L. plantarum and the specific degradation rate of profenofos were significantly increased compared to without sonication, attributed to the enhancement of phosphatase activity and the improvement of cell membrane permeability.
