Summary: This study investigates the effect of coexisting metal cations on the adsorption capacity of an adsorbent for pentavalent antimony (Sb(V)). The results show that metal cations can enhance the removal of Sb(V) by the adsorbent, with a 4-fold increase in adsorption in the presence of Cd(II) coexistence. The addition of Cd(II) increases the surface potential and enhances the adsorption performance. The complexation of hydroxyl functional groups with iron oxides and the co-precipitation of FeOx/Cd(II) with Sb(V) are the primary factors enhancing the removal of Sb(V).

Summary: Zr-monosubstituted Lindqvist-type polyoxometalates have been used as molecular models to investigate the mechanism of hydrogen peroxide activation over Zr(IV) sites. These compounds catalyze the epoxidation of unfunctionalized alkenes and show increased activity with acid additives. The interaction with H2O2 results in the formation of various peroxo derivatives, with different species showing different reactivity towards oxygen transfer reactions.

Summary: Styrene was grafted onto biopolymer Sodium Alginate via free-radical polymerization using potassium persulfate as an initiator, resulting in changes in surface morphology. The effect of grafting parameters on Sodium Alginate and the adsorption properties of the grafted copolymer were studied, showing higher adsorption for Cr6+, Cu2+, Co2+, and Ni2+. The grafted copolymer also exhibited improved antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

Summary: In this study, a novel hybrid functional Zr-Fe metallic oxides composite was prepared and used for the removal of highly toxic and non-degradable metalloid antimony from water. The maximum adsorption capacity for Sb(iii) and Sb(v) was found to be 114.05 and 157.13 mg g(-1), respectively. The adsorption process was well described by the Freundlich and Temkin isotherm models, and followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The mechanisms of the HF-ZFOs composite for Sb(iii) and Sb(v) removal were attributed to the protonation of surface functional groups and electron transfer reactions.

Summary: The phase stability and mechanical properties of multimetal-boronitride (Hf,Ta,Ti,V,Zr)-B-N were investigated using ab initio computations and experimental methods. Non-reactively sputtered (Hf,Ta,Ti,V,Zr)-B-N coatings exhibited a single-phase fcc solid solution with exceptional hardness and thermal stability. The (Hf,Ta,Ti,V,Zr)-B-N preferred the fcc NaCl-type structure up to a B:N ratio of 3.5.

Summary: By adjusting the size and functionalized surface of porous PS microspheres, a simple and fast magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) method combined with HPLC was developed for quantification of safrole in plasma, showing linear response within the range of 0.02-12 μg mL(-1), with a LOD of 0.006 μg mL(-1). Satisfactory recoveries between 85.67% and 97.74% were achieved, with RSDs below 3.9% for spiked levels of the analyte. The adsorbent demonstrated reusable capability for 6 cycles without significant loss of extraction efficiency.

Summary: In this study, Cs2AgBiBr6/M3C2 heterostructures were constructed and characterized using density functional theory (DFT) and experimental studies. The results showed that AgBiBr3/M3C2 heterostructures exhibited superior interfacial properties compared to Cs2BiBr3/M3C2 heterostructures, with smaller interfacial distance, higher binding energy, and better charge transfer ability. Among the AgBiBr3/M3C2 heterostructures, AgBiBr3/Ti3C2 and AgBiBr3/Zr3C2 showed the best binding energy and charge transfer ability. Furthermore, all the constructed heterostructures showed improved light absorption coefficient, broadened visible light absorption range, and reduced effective mass of the charge carriers. The experimental synthesis of Cs2AgBiBr6/Ti3C2 composite materials confirmed the feasibility of the theoretical models. These results provide valuable theoretical guidance for developing high-performance Cs2AgBiBr6/M3C2 heterostructures in optoelectronic perovskite devices.
