Composite films were obtained from aqueous solutions of blends of carboxymethyl cellulose ionized to various degrees and poly-N-vinylformamide. The composition ranges in which the polymers are compatible were determined by solvent vapor sorption and by dynamic mechanical analysis. The heat resistance of the films and the interaction of the polymers in the solid state were examined by DSC, TGA, and Fourier IR spectroscopy.

Development of an effective method of tariff formation for rural areas: the case of Russian Federation

Joao Paulo Pereira, Daria Zamotajlova, Elena Popova

Summary: Research has shown that the current methods of calculating tariffs for housing and communal services are not effective or economically sound, necessitating the development of a new methodology to ensure compromise tariffs. Compromise analysis, aimed at obtaining optimal prices, can serve as the basis for this new methodology.

Increasing the performance of asymmetric pervaporation membranes for the separation of methanol/methyl-tert-butyl ether mixtures by the introduction of sulfonated polyimide into the poly(amide-imide) matrix

Denis Andzheevich Sapegin, Galina Nikolaevna Gubanova, Elena Nikolaevna Popova, Svetlana Viktorovna Kononova

Summary: The introduction of sulfonated polyimide into poly(amide-imide) matrices significantly increases membrane flux while decreasing overall process selectivity. Composite membranes with 1 wt% sulfonated polyimide exhibit improved membrane flux and comparable selectivity values, with a high separation factor achieved when separating methanol from a 3 wt% mixture with methyl-tert butyl ether at 52 degrees C.

Properties of Solutions and Composite Films of Chitosan and Carboxymethyl Chitosan with Montmorillonite Nanoparticles Obtained from Aqueous Solutions

Summary: The rheological properties of aqueous solutions of chitosan and carboxymethyl chitosan with additions of montmorillonite nanoparticles were studied to investigate the structural organization and thermal stability of the composite films. It was found that the montmorillonite nanoparticles were in an exfoliated state in the films, and there were differences in the interaction of polysaccharide macromolecules with functional groups on the surface of nanoplates. The introduction of nanoparticles did not significantly change the thermal stability of the obtained films.

Summary: The rheological properties of dilute and moderately dilute concentrated aqueous solutions of methyl cellulose mixtures with carboxymethyl chitosan were investigated. The structural organization, thermal stability, and mechanical characteristics of the composite films were studied using dynamic mechanical, thermomechanical, and thermogravimetric analyses and X-ray diffraction. The temperatures of relaxation transitions were determined and the composition regions in which the polymers are compatible and form mixed structures were ascertained.
