Summary: This study analyzed the prescribing practices and extent of shared decision-making (SDM) in Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) across Europe. The results showed higher disease activity and treatment escalation rates in the UK, and effective implementation of SDM in face-to-face PsA consultations. Moreover, treatment escalation was only observed in patients with mild disease activity and higher perceived collaboration.

Summary: Patients with PsA who have nail psoriasis demonstrated worse disease activity, quality of life, and work productivity compared to those without nail involvement, highlighting the importance of identifying and managing nail disease in PsA patients.

Summary: This study compared the clinical and radiographical characteristics of axial psoriatic arthritis (PsA) with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) with psoriasis. It found that axial PsA is predominantly HLA-B27 negative and has different manifestations compared to AS with psoriasis. There is great heterogeneity in the definition of axial PsA from a clinical and imaging perspective.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the prevalence, characteristics, and disease burden of psoriatic arthritis in psoriasis patients. It found that a proportion of patients with active psoriatic arthritis were not receiving rheumatological care, often characterized by low disease burden and poor screening questionnaire results.

Summary: This review systematically demonstrates the research progress of psoriasis-related biomarkers and elaborates their related mechanisms in the pathological development of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. In addition, we summarize the development of biologic therapies for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis in order to drive the broader discussion of psoriasis as an autoimmune-mediated inflammatory skin disease.

Summary: This study aimed to assess baseline differences between plaque psoriasis alone and concomitant PsA patients and to investigate the impact of these characteristics on ustekinumab (UST) persistence and outcomes. Results showed that patients with concomitant PsA had a greater comorbidity burden, including hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and depression, and a greater inability to work. PsA, female sex, and depression were associated with shorter UST persistence. These findings emphasize the need for patient-centric, multidisciplinary care in screening for and managing comorbidities in psoriasis and PsA treatment.

Summary: Chronic inflammation and increased oxidative stress contribute to non-communicable diseases, with dietary nutrients playing a role in immune system activation. Obesity is a major risk factor for psoriasis, which may be improved with strict dietary interventions and weight management. Further research is needed on the effects of different nutritional patterns on chronic inflammation and immune response in psoriasis.

Summary: Enthesitis plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and management of patients with spondyloarthritis and psoriatic arthritis, but clinical assessment is often inaccurate due to poor specificity. Ultrasound has the potential to improve the evaluation of enthesitis and enhance patient management in this context. Reviewing the OMERACT definitions for ultrasound enthesitis can help identify current limitations and their potential implications for rheumatology research and clinical practice.

Summary: Numerous scientific studies have shown significant skin and gut dysbiosis in patients with psoriasis, with changes in abundance of specific bacterial taxa. Treatments for psoriasis have been found to significantly influence skin and gut microbiome, with orally administered probiotics having a positive impact on the course of the disease. Further research is needed to understand the influence of microbiome on the development of inflammatory skin diseases.

Summary: A bidirectional association between endometriosis and psoriasis with PsA was found in this study. Psoriasis with concomitant PsA was associated with a higher risk of laparoscopically confirmed endometriosis, while the diagnosis of endometriosis was suggestive of subsequent risk of psoriasis with PsA.

Summary: This prospective observational study collected data from rheumatology clinics in Italy and found that golimumab (GLM) as a second anti-TNF drug is effective in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA). GLM improved disease activity and quality of life in these patients.
