Summary: Phytohormones play a crucial role in integrating external and internal signals for plant survival and reproduction. Jasmonate (JA), an essential phytohormone, regulates diverse developmental processes and defense responses against environmental stresses. This review provides an overview of ligand-receptor binding techniques, the identification of the COI1 receptor and active JA molecules, and recent advances in JA perception and evolution.

Summary: The study found reduced proliferation and angiogenesis markers, increased inflammation, and altered ER expression patterns in women with suboptimal endometrial thickening after clomiphene treatment. The results suggest potential mechanisms underlying the lower pregnancy rates associated with suboptimal endometrial thickening in these women.

Summary: Highly accurate protein structure predictions by deep neural networks such as AlphaFold2 and RoseTTAFold have great impact on structural biology and beyond. This study demonstrates that AlphaFold2 can also be used for quick and accurate modeling of peptide-protein interactions. The results highlight the potential of AlphaFold2 in providing structural insight into a wide range of peptide-protein complexes.

Summary: This study explores the low specificity and high responsiveness of estrogen hormone receptors (ERs) towards chemically distinct exogenous substances, suggesting a possible environmental regulation of ERs and common structural features with prokaryotic taxis receptors. Despite sharing common domain structural folds and common ligand-based pharmacophore features, a significant sequence divergence is observed between bacterial chemotaxis receptors and human ERs, indicating a conservation of protein architecture for specific function regardless of sequence identity.

Summary: This study presents an engineering strategy to improve the properties of challenging GPCRs by combining three directed evolution methods. Utilizing a Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) strategy, the study successfully selected improved variants of the human oxytocin receptor and compared mutations in different hosts. This research provides insights into the evolutionary pressure on the same membrane protein in prokaryotes and eukaryotes and offers a general methodology for accurate analysis of point mutants during directed evolution.

Summary: The major peanut allergen Ara h 1 activates dendritic cells via interaction with DC-SIGN, while potentially stimulating two different subsets of macrophages through different receptors. The study demonstrates the importance of distinct receptors in macrophages in responding to Ara h 1, furthering our understanding of how the allergen interacts with innate immunity.

Summary: The addition of cell-targeting moieties and polyethylene glycol (PEG) to nanoparticle (NP) drug delivery systems improves the biodistribution, specificity, and uptake of therapeutic cargo. Lipid phase separation in nanoparticles can modulate liposome avidity by changing the proximity of PEG and targeting protein molecules, enhancing the binding of liposomes to cancer cells.

Summary: DNA-binding proteins (DBPs) play crucial roles in biological regulation. However, classical deep learning methods for predicting DBP sequence specificities often fail to capture the dependencies between genomic sequences and perform poorly with inadequate samples. To address these challenges, a novel language model called DNA Fine-tuned Language Model (DFLM) was developed, which utilizes human genomic data and ChIP-seq datasets with decaying learning rates. DFLM successfully captures the dependencies between genome sequences and achieves significant improvement in predictive performance compared to existing methods.

Summary: This article describes a small outbreak of aseptic meningitis caused by echovirus E30 in a New Zealand hospital in 2017. The outbreak involved nine cases, with most patients showing lymphocytic predominance in their cerebrospinal fluid. The VP1 genotyping revealed that the outbreak strain was closely related to strains reported from the US, UK, Brazil, and Denmark. Further analysis suggested that the causative agent of this outbreak might be a mosaic triple-recombinant enterovirus composed of echovirus E6, echovirus E11, and echovirus E30 genome segments.
