Summary: This study explores the molecular mechanism of mandibular invasion in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), focusing on bone morphogenetic protein receptor 1 alpha (BMPR1α) and Sonic hedgehog (SHH) signals. BMPR1α is positively correlated with bone defect in OSCC patients. BMPR1α signaling regulates osteoclast differentiation and resorption activity through interaction with OSCC cells and osteoclast progenitors, mediated by SHH secreted by tumor cells. Inhibiting SHH protects bone from tumor-induced osteolytic activity.

Summary: The study reveals that BMP signaling inhibits dedifferentiation of intestinal epithelial cells, and attenuation of the BMP pathway through stromal upregulation of Grem1 is essential for adaptive reprogramming in intestinal regeneration. However, the functional impact of this intervention is submaximal, suggesting potential therapeutic pathway manipulation in inflammatory bowel disease.

Summary: The study found that BMP-2 plays a therapeutic role in human PCOS in vitro cell model by suppressing cell proliferation, androgen production, and related gene expression in H295R cells. The BMP-2 secreted by BM-hMSCs is identified as a key factor mediating the beneficial effects of stem cell therapy in PCOS treatment.

Summary: This study investigated the covalent binding of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 and -7 in stem cells and its effects on cell adhesion, migration, and osteogenesis. The presence of both proteins enhanced cell adhesion but limited cell motility, while the presence of single proteins promoted cell migration activity. Additionally, the coexistence of the proteins significantly increased early osteogenic marker expression.

Summary: Osteoconductive and osteoinductive coatings are effective strategies for enhancing the integration of metallic implants with bone. Composite materials based on PLA and HAp benefit bone cell development, while the addition of osteogenic proteins contributes to new bone formation. Laser-processed composites show superior ability to promote osteoprogenitor cell adhesion, viability, and proliferation.

Summary: This study investigates the osteogenic effects of tethered BMP-2 and BMP-9 on human MSCs encapsulated in a hydrogel. The results show that tethered BMP-2 and BMP-9 both effectively enhance osteogenesis of MSCs, leading to a mature osteoblast phenotype.

Summary: Squamous-cell carcinoma is a common type of cancer in humans, with most cases being localized and treatable, but a small percentage of cases that recur or spread can be fatal. Immunocompromised patients are at particularly high risk.

Summary: Zirconia (ZrO2) is widely used in dental implants due to its good mechanical properties, but its bioinert nature may hinder osseointegration. Immobilization of BMP-2 on sandblasted ZrO2 surfaces using genipin increased surface roughness and improved focal adhesion activation and mineralization of hMSCs. Low and high concentrations of BMP-2 did not significantly affect later-stage osteogenic response, but low BMP-2 concentration stimulated early-stage osteogenic markers and p38 protein expression on ZrO2 surfaces.

Summary: Bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) plays an important role in promoting bone healing, but its mechanism needs further exploration. By modifying implants to carry BMP and achieve slow and sustained release, effective bone healing can be stimulated.

Summary: The study explores the BMP2/7 heterodimer signaling mechanism in zebrafish embryos, revealing that BMP2 homodimers require nonredundant type I receptors Acvr1 and Bmpr1 for signaling, despite not being able to bind Acvr1 in vitro. The kinase activity of Acvr1 is essential for the signaling complex, suggesting that the potency of the heterodimer arises from recruiting both Acvr1 and Bmpr1.

Summary: In lung adenocarcinoma, BMP5 was identified as an independent protective prognostic factor, significantly correlated with EGFR expression and mutations, and potentially involved in targeted therapy. By co-expression with hub genes, the re-established risk model showed improved prognostic correlation and value.

Summary: There have been significant advances in gene therapy and oncolytic virotherapy, particularly in the development of advanced animal models for testing these treatments. It is crucial to consider the biosafety risks when testing these vectors in animals. In this study, we conducted adenovirus-based viral shedding studies in murine models to determine the appropriate time to downgrade the animals from Biosafety Level 2 to Biosafety Level 1. Our results indicate that mice can be safely downgraded to BSL 1 after 72 hours following adenovirus injection, with no significant biologically active virus shedding.
