Summary: Genomic profiling of diffuse astrocytic gliomas can better predict patient outcomes compared to histomorphology alone. This study found that the integration of genomic profiling with radiologic and histologic features can lead to improved patient management and clinical outcomes for IDH-wildtype glioblastoma. This supports the routine use of genomic profiling in accurately classifying glial neoplasms.

Summary: Craniofacial deformities (CFDs) can occur as a result of oncological resection, trauma, or congenital disorders. Trauma, which varies in rates across countries, is a leading cause of death globally. CFDs lead to non-healing composite tissue wounds as they deteriorate in soft or hard tissues. Gum disease is responsible for approximately one-third of oral diseases. The complex anatomical structures and tissue-specific requirements in the craniofacial region pose numerous challenges for CFD treatments. Various treatment methods, including drugs, regenerative medicine, surgery, and tissue engineering, are available for CFDs.

Summary: This article introduces the EXCEL study, which aims to improve accessibility to exercise oncology programs for cancer patients in rural and remote areas. The study uses a hybrid effectiveness-implementation approach, with clinical exercise physiologists providing knowledge support to healthcare professionals and community-based qualified exercise professionals for education, referrals, and programming. The impact of EXCEL is evaluated using the RE-AIM framework at participant and institutional levels, assessing physical activity, functional fitness, and patient-reported outcomes.

Summary: High levels of complement factor H (CFH) were found to decrease the risk of death in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (SCLC), while elevated complement C4 levels displayed poor prognosis. A predictive model based on CFH, C3, and C4 levels was constructed, showing good accuracy in assessing patients' prognostic outcomes.

Summary: This cross-sectional study investigated the association between OSA measures and cancer prevalence in a large patient cohort in Sweden. The results showed that OSA patients with cancer had higher AHI and ODI compared to matched OSA patients without cancer. Subgroup analysis also revealed higher ODI in OSA patients with lung cancer, prostate cancer, and malignant melanoma.

Summary: This study explores women's sexual experiences and coping strategies for sexual problems after gynaecological treatment. The study reveals four main themes, including treatment side effects, sexual issues following radiation therapy, lack of awareness regarding cancer treatment and sexual dysfunction, and coping strategies for sexual dysfunction following gynaecological cancer treatment. Three sub-themes emerge as coping mechanisms for managing sexual issues and dysfunction among Ethiopian women with gynaecological cancer: avoiding sexual intercourse, praying for healing and seeking professional help.

Summary: The study found that individuals with prior oral dysplasia had significantly higher odds for locoregional recurrence, while OSCC of the tongue and floor of the mouth had lower recurrence odds compared to other sites. Histologic grade, depth of invasion, and elective neck dissection did not seem to influence locoregional recurrence for T1N0 tumors.

Summary: Osteomyelitis is a severe orthopedic infection caused by Staphylococcus aureus biofilms. Novel antibiotic conjugates comprising bone-binding bisphosphonates were designed and tested for their effectiveness against biofilm growth in this study. The conjugates demonstrated dose-dependent antimicrobial activity and retained bone-binding properties as well as the antimicrobial activity of the parent antibiotic, although at lower levels due to chemical modification. These findings are important for the development of new drugs for osteomyelitis treatment.
