Summary: Poly(vinylpyrrolidone) was employed as a modifier and reductant to deposit silver nanoparticles on silica nanospheres, creating SiO2@Ag, which can assemble into SiO2@Ag arrays. These substrates exhibit strong Raman enhancement capabilities and high detection sensitivity for trace organic pollutants like rhodamine 6G.

Summary: This paper introduces a graphene paper-supported plasmonic substrate for biodetection, which provides stable SERS signals at sub-millimolar concentration and a detection limit down to the nanogram level in the case of hemoglobin. The presence of a graphene underlayer ensures an even surface distribution of SERS hotspots and improved stability of the SERS signal.

Summary: In this study, we synthesized silver nanoparticle decorated TiO2 nanoflowers using a polymeric thin film of 3,4-dihydroxyphenyl-L-alanine (PLDOPA). The size and interparticle distance of the decorated Ag nanostructures were controlled by varying the supplied Ag ions. The resulting nanocomposite system (TNF@PLDOPA@Ag) exhibited unique SERS activity and high reproducibility, with an enhancement factor of 4.2 x 107. Additionally, it demonstrated efficient photocatalytic degradation of malachite green under visible light.

Summary: Glutathione and malondialdehyde are commonly used compounds to evaluate oxidative stress. This study explores the use of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) with silicon nanowires decorated with silver nanoparticles as substrates for the determination of glutathione and malondialdehyde in water and saliva. Glutathione is detected by monitoring the reduction in Raman signal from substrates modified with crystal violet upon incubation with glutathione solutions, while malondialdehyde is detected after a reaction with thiobarbituric acid. The detection limits achieved for aqueous solutions are 50 and 3.2 nM for glutathione and malondialdehyde, respectively, and 2.0 and 0.32 μM for saliva.

Summary: In this study, silver nanocubes were successfully synthesized via the silver mirror reaction within 1 minute. The sharp-edge nanocubes quickly transformed into small spherical nanoparticles and aggregates to extend the reaction time. A membrane-based surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate with high sensitivity and reproducibility was developed, and the fabrication process was completed within 30 minutes. The substrate demonstrated attomolar sensitivity to R6G and could detect various analytes with low limits of detection. However, the substrate's sensitivity decreased after 3 days.

Summary: This study demonstrates a rapid method for direct monitoring of the harmful pesticide 2,4-D in water without sample pre-treatment. Large-area, high-density, and homogeneous SERS substrates were synthesized using an electrochemical method. The Ag-GA SERS sensor showed a linear response towards 2,4-D detection and accurately detected the pesticide in different water samples.

Summary: This study developed silver nanoparticles-decorated filter paper substrates as surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) biosensors for the detection of acyclovir (ACV). The SERS biosensors showed high sensitivity and reproducibility in detecting ACV, indicating their potential as SERS-based biosensors for trace substance detection.

Summary: The fabrication of silicon nanowires by metal-assisted chemical etching and deposition of silver nanoparticles by the electroless method can be used for SERS detection of organic pollutants. Study shows that increasing the length of SiNWs decreases the enhancement of SERS, and SERS has potential in discriminating mixed dyes.

Summary: In this study, silicon micro-pyramids functionalized with silver nanoparticles were successfully developed as low-cost SERS chemosensors for the fast detection of various hazardous organic pollutants. The optimized micro-pyramid structure with well-controlled morphology was obtained by subjecting silicon to alkali mediated chemical etching process. The sensor exhibited high sensitivity and stability, and was capable of detecting organic dyes at picomolar levels and para-nitrophenol at femtomolar levels.

Summary: Loading atomically precise Au144(SC2H4Ph)60 nanoclusters on In2O3 nanospheres provides a new method for designing highly selective acetone sensing materials. The 3Au144/IO material shows excellent gas sensing properties for detecting acetone, with high responses, good selectivity, short response/recovery time, low detection limit, and long-term stability. Moreover, the sensor based on 3Au144/IO can distinguish diabetic patients from healthy individuals through tests of simulated exhalation and breath analysis.

Summary: A facile approach is proposed to prepare Ag nanoparticles modified ZnO nanorod arrays (Ag/ZnO NR arrays) as a sensitive, uniform, and repeatable SERS substrate for the rapid detection of organic dye molecules and biomolecules with concentrations higher than the corresponding limits of detection (LODs). The fabricated Ag/ZnO NR arrays exhibit high selectivity to multiple components and can be recycled due to their superior self-cleaning ability.
