Summary: This study demonstrates the important role of CRL2-KLHDC3 E3 ubiquitin ligase complex in regulating the stability of p14(ARF) protein, with KLHDC3 promoting ubiquitin-proteasomal degradation of p14(ARF) to suppress ferroptosis and support tumor growth. The findings suggest that overexpression of KLHDC3 likely contributes to cancer progression by suppressing the p14(ARF)-NRF2-SLC7A11 regulatory pathway.

Summary: An immortalized cell line was established using Ink4a/Arf deficient mice tenocytes, which has similar characteristics and proliferation potential as wild-type cells. These Ink4a/Arf(-/-) tenocytes can be a valuable tool for in vitro tendon research and an alternative to animal experiments.

Summary: The CDKN2A gene is important in the pathogenesis of malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM). The study found that p14/ARF-positive epithelioid mesotheliomas may represent a more aggressive pathological phenotype, while p14/ARF-negative tumors seem less sensitive to immune checkpoint inhibitors. The association between p14/ARF-positive MPMs and PD-L1 expression suggests a possible interaction between the two pathways.

Summary: In this study, two Candida ethanolica strains (J1 and J116) capable of directly degrading ethyl carbamate (EC) were isolated and immobilized. These immobilized strains reduced EC concentrations in Chinese Baijiu by 42.27% and 27.91%, respectively. Furthermore, the main flavor substances in Chinese Baijiu were not affected by the presence of these strains, suggesting their potential for the treatment and commercialization of Chinese Baijiu.

Summary: Any gene therapy for cancer necessitates selectivity against cancer cells and non-toxicity to normal cells. This study designed a modified p14(ARF)min promoter that could be preferentially activated by mutant Ras and completely inhibited by wild-type p53. The promoter was linked to bicistronic P14 and truncated BID (tBID) genes, which synergistically induced apoptosis via intrinsic and extrinsic pathways.

Summary: This study investigated the accumulation of ethyl carbamate (EC) during thermal processes of soy sauce and found that adding ornithine and quercetin before thermal processes could effectively reduce EC accumulation. The results showed that ornithine and quercetin could prevent the formation of EC and achieve a significant decrease in EC content in soy sauce, without causing remarkable changes in volatile compounds profile and color.

Summary: This study found that urea hydrolysis is the main mechanism of urea consumption during storage of Huangjiu, and established kinetic models for urea consumption and EC formation, determining urea control indicators and EC benchmark limits for Huangjiu. Low-temperature storage can slow down and reduce the production of EC.
