Summary: de Visser et al. demonstrated that vanadium(iv)-oxo complexes can generate an efficient oxidizer in the presence of H2O2. The catalytic activities of these complexes have been extensively studied, but not in corrole based ligand systems. In this study, two new oxo(corrolato)vanadium(iv) complexes were synthesized, and an anionic complex was observed. These complexes showed highly efficient oxidizer activity in the presence of H2O2 and KHCO3, with the true catalytic intermediate identified as an oxo(peroxo)(corrolato)vanadium(v) complex.

Summary: New Ce12V6 oxo clusters with different capping ligands were designed and synthesized, showing enhanced solubility and catalytic activity compared to the nonporous Ce12V6-SO4. The introduction of organic ligands improved the accessibility of catalytic sites and influenced the electronic environment, affecting the reactivity of the cluster. This study provides a strategy to fully utilize the catalytic sites within inorganic sulfate capped clusters through the introduction of organic ligands.

Summary: The research discovered that [V6O13{(OCH2)(3)CNHCOCH2Cl}(2-)] (V-6-Cl) can be used as a new and adjustable platform for the formation of discrete hybrid structures based on metal-oxo clusters in relatively high yields. Moreover, through nucleophilic substitution reactions with carboxylic acids of different complexities and functionalities, V-6-Cl also demonstrated its versatility in multiple disciplines such as supramolecular chemistry and biochemistry. Therefore, V-6-Cl serves as a straightforward and versatile starting point for the formation of functional supramolecular structures or other hybrid materials.

Summary: Calculations based on density functional theory were used to analyze the energy barrier for the formation of terminal metal-oxo from metal hydroperoxo species with buea ligand. The results showed that the energy barriers for the cleavage of the OMIDLINE HORIZONTAL ELLIPSISO bond were higher for late transition metals compared to early transition metals, supporting the concept of the oxo wall.

Summary: The vibrational spectra of mixed dimer and two mixed trimers of methanol and formic acid, along with some isotopologues, were investigated. The study found the absence of certain modes involving the acid OH group bound to the alcohol in the spectra. The spectral features were confirmed using vibrational perturbation theory, and subtle but systematic deviations from scaled harmonic predictions were observed. Ester formation could only be detected after gas expansion and pre-mixture.

Summary: A recent study has reported that a mu-oxo-bridged dimer of Si(iv) corrole exhibits dual emissive properties depending on the solvent viscosity. In this study, the control of excited-state dynamics and dual emission was examined by introducing meso-aryl substituents. Different structures and emission behaviors were observed in the solid state and excited state, suggesting the importance of molecular structure on the dual emissive properties.

Summary: Neptunium, the first artificially synthesized actinide, has been less studied compared to its famous neighbors uranium and plutonium. This study reports the synthesis, isolation, and characterization of a stable molecular neptunium(V)-mono(oxo) triamidoamine complex, demonstrating the possibility of stabilizing and studying high-oxidation-state transuranic complexes with a single metal-ligand bond.

Summary: Chemotherapy with platinum drugs is a common treatment for cancer, but resistance and toxic side effects limit its effectiveness. Researchers have discovered a new class of oxo-rhenium(V) complexes that have higher antitumor activity and can overcome resistance. These complexes accumulate in mitochondria, disrupt mitochondrial membrane potential, and increase reactive oxygen species, leading to cancer cell death.

Summary: This study designed iron-vacancy anchored layered double hydroxides to activate Peroxymonosulfate (PMS) and improve the removal rate of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) by 30 times compared to PMS alone. The cooperation of Fe vacancies and PMS led to the spontaneous generation of high-valent iron-oxo species, resulting in the enhancement of PMS activation pathways. This research provides a new perspective on the generation of high-valent iron-oxo species for the effective treatment of wastewater.

Summary: The activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) by sodium ferric chlorophyllin (SFC) was investigated for efficient degradation of bisphenol A (BPA). The SFC/PMS system showed a remarkable ability to degrade BPA, achieving a degradation rate of 97.5% in the first 10 minutes, while conventional Fe2+/PMS only removed 22.6% of BPA under the same conditions. The study identified nonradical oxidation species, including high-valent iron-oxo porphyrin species and 1O2, as the dominant species in the reaction. The proposed natural porphyrin derivative, SFC, exhibited a broad pH range and high tolerance towards inorganic anions, making it a promising candidate for wastewater treatment.

Summary: This study reported the preparation of two new Ru-II complex-functionalized MoS2 hybrids, and systematically studied their influence on the hydrogen evolution reaction activity and photo-electrochemical performance. It was found that the catalytic activity of functionalized MoS2 was strongly affected by the number and type of functional groups, and the photovoltage generation in the dye-sensitized MoS2 system could be tuned by manipulating surface functionalities, providing practical guidance for designing future dye-sensitized MoS2 hydrogen production devices.

Summary: The researchers synthesized and characterized (NiNiIII)-Ni-II(mu-OH)(2) (2) and Ni-2(III) (mu-OH)(2) (3) species, with 3 demonstrating superior reaction rates and substrate oxidation efficiency compared to 2 and 2'. The kinetic superiority of 3 was attributed to a stronger bond in the product of oxidation for 3.

Summary: The study found that [FeII(NCCH3)(NTB)](OTf)2 can react with difluoro(phenyl)-lambda 3-iodane (PhIF2) in the presence of saturated hydrocarbons to achieve oxidative fluorination of hydrocarbons with moderate to good yields. Kinetic and product analysis revealed a hydrogen atom transfer oxidation process before fluorine radical rebound, which supports the formation of a formally FeIV(F)2 oxidant and a dimeric mu-F-(FeIII)2 product, serving as a feasible fluorine atom transfer rebound reagent. This approach mimics the heme paradigm for hydrocarbon hydroxylation and provides a new avenue for oxidative hydrocarbon halogenation.

Summary: The surface of exfoliated 2H-MoS2 was activated by reacting with NaBH4, forming an n-doped material with similar spectral properties to pristine 2H-MoS2. The activated material could be dispersed in water, unlike the untreated 2H-MoS2. Its dispersibility was correlated with the relative permittivity of the solvents used. This approach enables the aqueous dispersion of semiconducting 2H-MoS2 without additives, and allows for controlled and facile functionalization, opening new possibilities for MoS2 applications.
