AdipoRon Treatment Induces a Dose-Dependent Response in Adult Hippocampal Neurogenesis

Thomas H. Lee, Brian R. Christie, Henriette van Praag, Kangguang Lin, Parco Ming-Fai Siu, Aimin Xu, Kwok-Fai So, Suk-yu Yau

Summary: This study found that low-dose AdipoRon treatment promoted hippocampal cell proliferation in mice, while high-dose AdipoRon treatment had detrimental effects on hippocampal function.

Effects of Aerobic Exercise Training on Systemic Biomarkers and Cognition in Late Middle-Aged Adults at Risk for Alzheimer's Disease

Julian M. Gaitan, Hyo Youl Moon, Matthew Stremlau, Dena B. Dubal, Dane B. Cook, Ozioma C. Okonkwo, Henriette van Praag

Summary: Research suggests that aerobic exercise training can increase plasma CTSB levels, and changes in CTSB are correlated with cognitive performance. BDNF levels decreased with exercise training, while klotho levels remained unchanged but were closely related to changes in VO(2)peak. Metabolomic analysis showed an increase in PUFAs, reductions in ceramides, sphingo- and phospholipids, as well as changes in gut microbiome metabolites and redox homeostasis with exercise training.

Effects of Combined Anti-Hypertensive and Statin Treatment on Memory, Fear Extinction, Adult Neurogenesis, and Angiogenesis in Adult and Middle-Aged Mice

Seungwoo Yoo, Matthew Stremlau, Alejandro Pinto, Hyewon Woo, Olivia Curtis, Henriette van Praag

Summary: This research found that combination treatment of atorvastatin and Captopril can accelerate memory extinction in adult mice, but does not affect hippocampal neurogenesis and vascularization. In middle-aged mice, the combo treatment does not improve spatial memory, but can reduce anxiety.
