Summary: This study investigated the interaction between curcumin and EGCG, plant-derived compounds, with NLRP3 complex using in silico approach. The results showed that curcumin and EGCG had higher binding affinity for NLRP3 protein compared to other complex proteins, suggesting their potential impact on the complex's function. Protein-protein interaction studies further confirmed the efficacy of these compounds in hindering the formation of NLRP3 complex. The therapeutic effect of curcumin and EGCG may be mediated by preventing the development of the NLRP3 complex.

Summary: The study found that adding 0.05-0.1% of micelle silymarin to the feed significantly improved the growth performance, feed utilization, immune response, and antioxidant capacity of olive flounder. It also promoted the development of intestine and liver tissues. Compared to regular silymarin, micelle silymarin showed similar or higher effects even at low supplementation levels. Therefore, dietary micelle silymarin is expected to be a more effective and economical supplement for olive flounder.

Summary: The study aimed to enhance the efficacy of trans-ferulic acid (TFA) by loading it into folate-receptor-targeted poly lactic-co-glycolic acid nanoparticles (FA-PLGA-TFA NPs) and evaluating the antitumor efficacy of Doxorubicin (Dox)/FA-PLGA-TFA NPs combination against DMBA-induced breast cancer, as well as its safety profile. The combination not only inhibited Notch signaling but also suppressed synergy with other pathways, reduced P-gp levels, and maintained organ health and white blood cell count. This approach could potentially reduce side effects and improve antitumor activity compared to the standard AC regimen.

Summary: In this study, the anticancer effect of a novel drug combination using nanoformulations of Quercetin and Ascorbyl palmitate was investigated in Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC)-bearing mice. The combination treatment significantly reduced tumor growth, increased antioxidant status, and reduced lipid peroxidation. The combination also downregulated the expression of p-STAT3 and HIF-1 alpha, induced cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in EAC cells, and caused DNA damage. The combination was also superior in the destruction of the mitochondrial membrane.

Summary: This work aimed to develop a functional spine unit (FSU) replacement using different technologies to mimic the structure and function of the vertebral body (VB) and intervertebral disc (IVD) and treat spinal tuberculosis (TB). 3D-printed scaffolds with different porous patterns were fabricated to replace damaged VB and IVD. The results showed excellent mechanical strength and biocompatibility of the custom-designed replacements, along with the expected prolonged release of antibiotics. These findings suggest that this drug-eluting scaffold system could be used for treating various spinal problems.

Summary: Omega-3 fatty acids are potential therapeutic agents with antioxidant, nutritional, and health benefits. However, their unsaturated nature makes them susceptible to oxidation, requiring protection in food products. This review discusses the chemistry, natural sources, health benefits, and antimicrobial activity of omega-3 fatty acids. It also highlights the challenges of incorporating omega-3 fatty acids into foods, particularly regarding oxidation, and explores the use of natural polyphenols and different wall materials for microencapsulation. Various encapsulation techniques are also discussed.
