In this study, electrophoretic deposition (EPD) of nano-cobalt oxide (Co3O4) particle (30 nm) was investigated to develop coatings with potential applications in many fields. Nano-Co3O4 particles were suspended in mixture of acetylacetone and ethanol and stable suspensions were obtained. The deposits were characterized qualitatively by X-ray diffraction, SEM observations and EDS analysis. The coating growth rate was varied by different deposition times in the range of 1-30 mm at voltages of 100-150 V. Results of this study demonstrate that EPD is a feasible method of fabricating nano-Co3O4 coating which is of potential interest in gas sensors, heterogeneous catalysts, supercapacitors and many other applications.
