Summary: This study systematically reviewed research on the estimation of the value of a statistical life (VSL), finding significant variations in VSL estimates across different contexts, with higher median estimates for the labor market and developed countries. The importance of using context-specific VSL estimates and the need for methodological innovation and standardization to improve comparability of VSL estimates were emphasized in the study.

Summary: This paper contributes to the debate about using utility-based measures in accessibility assessment of transport infrastructure investments in the Global South. It proposes a method using discrete choice modeling to analyze the impact of infrastructure interventions on accessibility. The paper uses data from Bogotá, Colombia and employs a logsum accessibility metric to estimate the differentiated impact on residents with varying income levels. The findings have implications for transport policy and practice in similar urban contexts in the Global South.

Summary: This study addresses the common tension between transparency and revenue in social trading by optimizing the level of transparency through delaying the release of trading information. By capturing the economic impact of delay using profit-gap and delayed-profit concepts, it provides insights into the effects on followers' money. The research also proposes a stochastic control formulation for platform revenue optimization, incorporating the concept of delay customized at the trader level.

Summary: This study explores the impact of online review picture background on consumers' purchase intention and how it interacts with product type and review features. Consumers tend to make inferences about reviewers' socioeconomic status from the background of online review pictures. Low SES background triggers a stigma effect for mainstream products but an enhancing effect for high-end products. Multiple low-SES pictures and the combination with positive, fit-oriented textual reviews exacerbate the stigma effect for mainstream products. Conversely, the enhancing effect of one low-SES background picture for a high-end product remains even with multiple high-SES background pictures, but is reversed with multiple low-SES pictures.

Summary: Human capital is the integration of innate skills and knowledge acquired through investing in individual formation, which pays off in the long term. In the Italian legal system, a person is recognized from birth, determining the acquisition of personal rights. While a fetus does not possess these rights by law, it has the innate potential to acquire them after birth.

Summary: This paper explores how smart-charging of PEVs can mitigate challenges presented by VRES expansion and reduce distribution grid costs. A heuristic policy is proposed for Germany in 2035, leading to potential savings of €6.2 billion and a 19% reduction in total costs. The potential of smart charging is higher in rural areas than urban centers, and curtailing VRES production is only economically viable in rare circumstances.

Summary: Benefit-sharing agreements determine how economic value from extractive activities is shared between companies and communities, including local access to contracting and job opportunities. This paper quantitatively models two BSAs, finding that jobs and financial transfers are the main contributors to net benefits, which can help inform communities entering into negotiations or monitoring agreements.

Summary: The digital transformation of education is advancing rapidly, particularly in the field of intelligent learning systems. This study aims to understand and improve computer-supported adaptive quizzing by formalizing user feedback on engagement and interactions. A novel framework called EICQ (Engagement and Interaction-based Computer-Supported Adaptive Quizzing) is proposed to capture engagement trends and interactions in real-time, leading to better learning experiences. Efforts have been made to integrate this framework into XXXU intelligent learning systems developed with the YYY Company.

Summary: The global demand for wines produced following environmentally sustainable techniques is increasing, with consumers showing willingness to pay higher prices for organic and biodynamic wines. Organic wines are valued for their credence attributes, while familiarity with biodynamic wines positively affects consumers' willingness to pay. Marketing strategies focusing on increasing knowledge about production techniques, especially biodynamic methods, are crucial for producers and retailers in this sector.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the influence of images of haute cuisine dishes and traditional dishes on consumers' affective and emotional responses, as well as the moderating role of age. The results showed that food images (both haute cuisine and traditional dishes) elicited higher feelings of pleasure and arousal compared to non-food images. However, there was no significant difference in self-report affect, physiological, and behavioral responses between haute cuisine and traditional dishes. Interestingly, younger participants had greater feelings of pleasure and shorter eye-to-screen distance towards traditional food than haute cuisine.
