Summary: The combination of scanning tunneling microscopy and terahertz electromagnetic pulses has advanced significantly, providing atomic-level spatial resolution and femtosecond temporal resolution. It can capture real-time dynamics of electron diffusion and relaxation, and even control molecular motions instantaneously. This technology has great potential for materials research and development in ultrafast time-resolved THz scanning tunneling microscopy.

Summary: The study investigates the ultrafast sheet conductivity dynamics in various epitaxially grown graphene layers using optical pump-terahertz probe spectroscopy. Plasmonic excitations are believed to be induced by wrinkles and substrate terraces, acting within micrometer-sized domains with isotropic character. The measured ultrafast dynamics are controlled by the quasi-Fermi level of laser-excited carriers and the transient spectra reveal crucial material parameters such as Fermi energy, carrier mobility, and disorder mean free path.

Summary: The study experimentally demonstrates the two-photon interference of two phase-randomized weak coherent pulses using time-resolved coincidence detection technique. The mutual coherence time between the two weak coherent lights is determined by applying frequency noise to one of the interfering lights, and the HOM-type TPI fringe visibility is analyzed based on the ratio of coherence time to pulse duration.

Summary: Raman spectroscopy was used to investigate the short-term (0-96 h) response of A. thaliana to oxidative stress induced by the PSII inhibitor metribuzin. Whole leaves of wildtype (WT, Col-0) and ros1 mutant were scanned, and changes in carotenoids were examined. Significant differences in Raman intensity distributions between WT and ros1 were observed, with a stronger decrease in carotenoid v1(C=C) band intensity across the leaf in ros1 after 48 h of metribuzin exposure.

Summary: The study investigated the time-resolved tunneling of holes between two MoSe2 monolayers separated by a WS2 energy barrier, with a measured tunneling time of about 20 ps. Utilizing a graphene layer to selectively fill holes in the first MoSe2 layer provided quantitative insights into charge transfer mechanisms in van der Waals heterostructures, beneficial for designing sophisticated multilayer structures.

Summary: A fully integrated lens-coupled dual-polarization detector for imaging in the terahertz region was designed, fabricated, and characterized. The detector module can simultaneously measure the two orthogonal linear-polarized components of the incident THz waves, and polarization-resolved imaging of Gaussian beam and birefringent samples was performed. The single-pixel detector demonstrated here is suitable for array applications and has significant impact on remote sensing, through-barrier imaging, and detection/identification applications.

Summary: THz-Time domain spectroscopic imaging is achieved by combining robotic scanning, continuous signal acquisition, and holographic reconstruction to enhance imaging resolution. The method is applied to a metallic Siemens star for resolution quantification and to wood samples for showcasing the technique on a non-metallic object with an unknown structure.

Summary: This study investigates the coherent structures that arise during flat-plate boundary layer transition at Mach number 3.4 using a custom-built hyper-rate imaging system. The evolution of transitional structures is examined in both the Eulerian and Lagrangian reference frames. The upstream evolution is dominated by the generation of new hairpin structures, while the downstream evolution is mainly influenced by interactions among multiple structural types. The breakdown of existing structures, possibly due to interactions among structures with similar scales, is also observed.

Summary: Time-resolved photoelectron imaging (TRPEI) is a highly differential technique used to study the dynamics of non-adiabatic energy redistribution in electronically excited states of molecules. While the method has broad research significance, there are limitations that need to be addressed. Through various examples, challenges commonly encountered in the analysis and interpretation of experimental data are illustrated, along with initial thoughts on potential solutions.

Summary: In this study, a 3D THz time-of-flight (TOF) imaging technique was developed using reflective optics to preserve the high-frequency components from a THz antenna. The imaging tool proved effective in inspecting the packaged chip with high lateral and longitudinal resolution. The phase information in 2D and 3D images was shown to be a powerful tool in identifying defects, particularly delamination in the chip, which can have a detrimental impact on the stability of the packaged chip.
