Summary: In this study, four new azulene-based N-aryl nucleobases were synthesized via nucleophilic aromatic substitution (SNAr), which possess unique structural and functional properties and show no cytotoxic effect on the HEK293T cell line. Furthermore, a silver complex of the cytosine derivative (Ag-C-complex) was synthesized, exhibiting antibacterial properties against Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA14) with a minimum inhibitory concentration of 20 mu M.

Summary: By using [TMG][CH3COO] ionic liquid as solvent and promoter, a successful access to unsymmetrically substituted secondary amine was achieved through a copper catalyzed mono arylation of aromatic/aliphatic amines with diverse 1-aryltriazenes. The reaction shows varied functional group tolerance, shorter reaction time, better product yield, and the ability to recycle and re-use the ionic liquid, highlighting it as a more environmentally friendly alternative for conventional synthesis.

Summary: In this study, graphene oxide was modified with a 1,1'-((ethane-1,2-diylbis(oxy))bis(ethane-2,1-diyl))bis(3-(3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl)-1H-Imidazol-3-ium) chloride ionic liquid to immobilize copper species and form a catalyst. The catalyst showed efficient activity in the reaction between phenols and aryl halides and could be used multiple times.

Summary: The direct cross-couplings of aryl sulfonium salts with aryl halides using nickel as a reaction catalyst were successfully achieved. The reactions proceeded efficiently via C-S bond activation at ambient temperature, providing moderate to good yields, potentially serving as an attractive alternative to conventional cross-coupling reactions.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis and reactivity of a series of Cu-II and Cu-III aryl complexes that closely mimic the intermediates in Cu-catalyzed C-N coupling reactions. It was found that neutral nitrogen nucleophiles can react with copper(III) aryl complexes to form C-N coupling products, but commonly observed byproducts are also generated.

Summary: A modular approach was used to successfully synthesize a polyfunctionalized indolizine-indole fused system, using readily available compounds and a combination of a one pot three-component assembly and Cu-catalyzed double C-N coupling reactions. This method allows for the formation of multiple new bonds in a simple and efficient manner.

Summary: A gold-catalyzed Heck reaction was developed for the synthesis of stilbenes and bistyryl complexes by cross-coupling aryl and styryl iodides with styrenes. The reaction exhibited good functional-group tolerance and mild conditions, assisted by a hemilabile P,N ligand. The mechanism may involve migratory insertion and beta-hydride elimination steps.

Summary: A C2-arylation reaction of N-acyl pyrroles using Pd(PPh3)(4) as a catalyst in combination with Ag2CO3 under air has been developed for the first time. This method provides a straightforward approach to the synthesis of valuable arylated pyrroles with good substrate tolerance and moderate to good yields under standard conditions. Interestingly, substrates with a thiophene or furan ring were found to be more reactive than pyrrole in the present catalytic system.

Summary: The study found that copper oxide and zinc oxide nanoparticles can enhance the friction reduction ability of the ionic liquid lubricant, with zinc oxide reducing wear and copper oxide decreasing anti-wear characteristics. The best tribological performance was observed with 0.2 wt% zinc oxide concentration, reducing wear scar diameter by 32% compared to the pure ionic liquid.

Summary: A novel strategy using nickel catalysis and electrochemistry has been developed for the construction of sulfoximine derivatives, achieving excellent functional group tolerance and yield under mild reaction conditions. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggest that anodic oxidation of a Ni-II species is crucial for promoting the reductive elimination of a C-N bond from a resulting Ni-III species at room temperature.

Summary: A facile method using copper pyrithione (CuPT) as the catalyst was described for the synthesis of N-arylheterocycles and di(hetero)aryl sulfides under mild conditions. The reactions showed high yields and broad substrate tolerance, with CuPT serving as the copper catalyst for CN coupling and as a catalyst and coupled partner for CS coupling. The S-arylation process was also utilized for the construction of valuable bioactive 2-sulfonylpyridine 1-oxide derivatives.

Summary: Dioxazolones can be used with boronic acids in the presence of copper(I) chloride to access N-aryl amides at room temperature. The developed reaction shows a wide range of functional group tolerance and the reactivity can be improved by adding a fluorine additive, suggesting the involvement of an N-acyl nitrene intermediate.

Summary: A green and efficient one-pot multi-component protocol was developed to synthesize novel dihydrochromeno[4,3-b]pyrrol-3-yl derivatives that exhibited potent inhibitory activities against alpha-glucosidase. The most effective derivative showed a competitive mechanism with a Ki value of 42.6 μM, and docking studies revealed effective interaction with important residues in the active site of alpha-glucosidase.
