Summary: The change in protein secondary structure affects functionality and performance, with proteins responding differently to chemical denaturation in different environments. The liquid/air interface can either enhance or decrease protein conformation stability, while the presence of urea induces denaturation in bulk solution but may be prevented at the liquid/air interface.

Summary: Researchers have designed three improved light-oxygen-voltage (iLOV) domains, and successfully regulated the charge transport properties of iLOV self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) through pH-induced conformation changes. The current density can be controlled within an order of magnitude. This study proposes a new approach to investigate charge transport in complex molecular systems and enhances our understanding of the relationship between protein structure and charge transport.

Summary: Ganirelix, a drug used in IVF, inhibits ovulation by blocking the production of gonadotropins. Peptides are macromolecules that can maintain their predetermined shape and carry out their intended functions. Changes in temperature and humidity can alter the secondary structure of therapeutic peptides. Circular dichroism spectroscopy was used to evaluate the effect of environmental factors on Ganirelix's secondary structure. The results showed that the stressed drug products had similar secondary structures to the reference drug.

Summary: Algorithms for objectively comparing circular dichroism spectra of biopharmaceuticals as a measure of consistent higher order structure are sensitive to errors in spectropolarimeter wavelength calibration. Analysis of a public database revealed significant differences in mean peak wavelength positions between instruments, as well as changes in peak positions and height ratios within individual instruments over time. The difference in wavelength maxima was found to be instrument-dependent.

Summary: Fourier Transform Mid Infrared with Attenuated Total Reflection Imaging (FTIR-ATR imaging) and Multivariate Curve Resolution with Alternating Least Squares (MCR-ALS) were used in a multiblock fashion to study the presence, distribution, and penetration depth of very low concentrations of florfenicol (FF) in feed pellets for salmonids. The results demonstrated the reliability of MCR-ALS in studying the distributional homogeneity of FF. This publication showed the contribution of FTIR-ATR imaging and multivariate analysis to the medicated feed industry for the first time.
