Summary: This study characterizes the NCM523 materials under different degradation states using STEM and develops a neural network model to recognize the crystal structure and locate defects. The observation reveals that the number of point defects in NCM523 increases and then decreases during degradation, and the shrinking space between transition metal columns induces capacity decay.

Summary: The aim of this study was to construct a new A2B2-type of unsymmetrical and ratiometric phthalocyanine-based probe O-A2B2ZnPc for the detection of hazardous Be2+. The probe exhibited strong absorption and emission in the Near-Infrared region and showed excellent selectivity and sensitivity toward Be2+ among competitive metal ions. The probe has superior features for the determination of Be2+ with high quantum efficiency and photochemical stability, rapid response, high selectivity, and very low Limit of Detection.

Summary: The study found that adsorbed and doped B atoms at different concentrations have different effects on the mechanical stability and hardness of BeO, with B@BeO structures being more mechanically stable and rigid than B-BeO structures. Additionally, as the B concentration increases, the magnetic moment, formation energy, and work function also change accordingly.

Summary: A nitrocellulose-graphene oxide hybrid was prepared by modifying commercially nitrocellulose (NC) membrane with graphene oxide (GO) microparticles, and it was used for oligonucleotide extraction. The modification of NC membrane was confirmed by FTIR and SEM analysis. The NC-GO hybrid membranes exhibited lower hydrophilic behavior compared to the NC control membranes, and they were able to efficiently extract short oligonucleotides from complex solutions.

Summary: An innovative aptamer labeled with 5-FAM and using graphene oxide (GO) as a quenching platform has been developed for high affinity detection of Y. enterocolitica. The system showed selectivity towards Y. enterocolitica in the presence of other common bacteria. Optimized conditions resulted in a wide linear response range and a low limit of detection, making the system potentially useful for rapid screening of Y. enterocolitica.

Summary: Ionic liquids and surfactants were used as coating materials for magnetic sorbents in the pretreatment of human plasma samples. Results showed that nanoparticles coated with both silica and an ionic liquid or surfactant had higher extraction efficiency compared to particles coated solely with silica. Additionally, the adsorption of analytes depended on the coating procedure and the type of coating material used.

Summary: This work presents the investigation of the adsorption properties of the CH2O molecule on the Be12O12 nano-cage using DFT-D3 calculations. Multiple analyses such as PDOS, NBO atomic charges, charge density difference, and QTAIM analyses were performed. The study examines the impact of solvent, external static electric field (EF), and concentration of CH2O. The results suggest that the Be12O12 nano-cage is a promising sensor for formaldehyde gas, with the adsorption energy and HOMO-LUMO gap controlled by various factors.

Summary: This study focuses on the neutronics driven selection of entrained moderating phases in MgO-based ceramic composites, particularly the MgO-BeO system, which exhibits exceptional moderating power and high temperature stability. By using lithium-bearing salts as sintering aids, fully dense MgO-BeO composites with BeO loading up to 40 vol.% were successfully produced through direct current sintering at reduced temperatures. The thermophysical properties of the composites were analyzed, showing trends in alignment with various composite models, indicating the influence of underlying defects. Microreactor neutronics and thermal hydraulic calculations demonstrated that the MgO-40BeO moderator outperforms graphite in terms of cycle length and fuel utilization, while maintaining steady-state temperature distributions within specification. The ceramic composite moderators show significant potential for reducing energy costs and enabling novel microreactor designs.

Summary: The study developed a rapid and accurate strategy for simultaneous quantification of trace multiple antibiotic residues in complex aquatic samples by surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technique. The membrane substrate exhibited good uniformity, reproducibility, stability, and SERS activity, providing enhanced sensitivity and selectivity. The integration of multitarget separation, enrichment, and in situ detection significantly improved the selectivity, sensitivity, accuracy, and detection throughput for real-sample analysis.
